Been off work for four years now long term sick and can't wait to get back into it, fed up with no money and being bored witless. Trouble is I'm getting on a bit and not many people want to employ you after you've spent 4 years off in and out of hospital

UPDATE: Back on the same field after a couple of the days and they definitely got the idea after the first day, very quite over his field but could see them in the distance mullering some other poor b*****ds corn. Started with a nice left and right then seemed to hit everything that came within range, even downed a crow at 50 odd yards which considering I'm using a skeet barrel I was more then pleased with. Got to go back a couple more times then it job done

Just spent a few hours shooting crows after getting a call from a farmer, they were decimating his corn, 3 of us in two hides over decoys, I thought that they were supposed to be hard to fool, not today 20 odd corvids, 12 pigeons and a rabbit = I happy farmer. I was shooting a Remington 1100 semi auto skeet and the other guys were using o/u's. Going back after them in couple of days, at times the sky was black with them, but tantalisingly just out of range :cray:mind you once they caught sight of the magnet and the flapper they were almost suicidal!!

I've said it on here once and I'll say it again, come the time when they have to renew their claims the sticks, crutches and wheelchairs all come out of storage, that limp suddenly reappears and with that bad back they stoop lower than an MP!! Then comes the renewal in the post and it's like a miracle cure, 18 holes on the golf course, scuba diving in Spain and winning the dads race on sports day!! It's a joke, but if people don't have the balls to report it then who are they to moan, there is a solution dob the low lives in. I have had for the past 4 years, a hole in my stomach where I have

Keeping 2 Jill's With Kits Together
brucemyster replied to Mandy Todd's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
No Way!! Small world eh, I'm in the Makenade area of Faversham, do you shoot or is it just ferrets your interested in? -
is the fan cutting in? I know your saying about gunk in the expansion tank but check the fan is working, unclip the block from the sensor located in the water pipe then turn on the ignition, the fan should start, if not check the wire to the fan.

A common mistake to make is to buy "a size up" Although people pish posh Dunlop's they do the job and you don't throw a wobbly when after 2 days you rip them up climbing over a barbed wire fence, perhaps not the most comfortable wellies but definitely the best in the low end market, my sons lasted for a full season of beating where others failed miserably, I wear wyre valley boots, a knock off of muck boots really but half the price, they've just started to split after 7 months of hard use every day, still waterproof though due to the neoprene lining.

Nylon Or Aluminum Flyscreens, Which Do You Prefer?
brucemyster replied to brucemyster's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
pretty warm down here too This hutch has Nylon fly screens, cost a couple of quid just noticed the black squiggle, it's where I resized it in paint and not a rouge hair of a pubic nature!! The one at the end has ali fly screens, cost about six quid, don't like them as much This is their play area, it does stand level it's me that doesn't one lot of kits, I have two litters at the moment but the others aren't being co-operative when it comes to pictures!!. both hutches have light tarp shades. -
Keeping 2 Jill's With Kits Together
brucemyster replied to Mandy Todd's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Hi Mandy, had a similar dilemma myself, whether to separate the two sisters or not, in the end I decided to separate the two jills and at present are at the same stage as you but with 15 kits!! I put a loaned polecat over my two albino jills, looks like I've got a fair mix of the two colours although it's difficult to tell this early on. What part of Kent are you from? -
Could be either! Confidence is a great aim booster. Having a skeet choked gun will give a wider spread and so will result in you hitting targets that you'd miss through poor aim with a tigher choke. The flip side of the debate, is too wide a pattern, as you may well be getting if shooting skeet at sporting ranges means some prey will be lost through holes in the pattern. As Charlie said, using a heavier cartridge and thus putting more shot into the string will help aleviate this, but it won't eliminate it and the best way to shoot is always with the optimum load / choke combo. That sai

horses for courses and what ever gives you confidence at the end of the day is what I say, recently got a used Remington 1100 skeet and my shooting has improved immeasurably, hitting things all over the show, is it because I'm using a more open choke or because I have more confidence with that particular gun? but then I'm not taking shots at impossible ranges. I think it's more about knowing your own limitations as much as it is the gun you use. Changing chokes left right and centre half the time is looking for an answer that just isn't there, it's your shooting ability not the chokes your us

meat is good, fresh rabbit and pigeon if you can get it, but feed late in the evening and remove in the morning to minimise flies, a good ferret complete food is great during the day, I use James Well Beloved, expensive but good stuff, cat foods aren't really designed for ferrets, carcasses and hard ferret foods also help tooth health Check the ferret for ticks, as it's been out and about it could have picked them up and this can diminish their base health

Thursday out doing a bit of decoying with my son and got my first right and left on a pair of crows, Friday out fishing on the river with my old fishing buddy Ray and banked a nice chub, both days great weather, if not a little too hot on Friday, could it be any better? Only get the time as I'm off long term sick at the moment and believe me you don't want to go trough what I've been through in the last 4 years, don't get any benefits so I'm lucky my son buys all the cartridges and we go in his car and my mate Ray drives us to fishing, he has his disability buggy in his motor, and if you look

6 weeks is still pretty young to be from the jill, not that i'm an expert and wouldn't mind being corrected. I don't think I'd let my present litters go that early

Those who may have read any of my previous posts will know I love shooting but freely admit I'm not the best shot in the world, I've just got back into shooting a shotgun after a break of nearly 20 years. My kids, bless their cotton socks, clubbed together and bought me a used Remington 1100 semi auto for fathers day and today I was shooting like a demon, hence the title and my exuberance at my first right and left on a pair of crows. My son and I were decoying pigeons in a field which had recently been cut and bailed for hay, my son had taken the first couple of birds that had come to the p

Nylon Or Aluminum Flyscreens, Which Do You Prefer?
brucemyster replied to brucemyster's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
I know what your saying re air flow and it was one of my concerns, however my hutches all have secondary roofs which prevent the sun directly heating the top of the hutches, they also have sunshades, sounds posh but its just a couple of light tarps fixed to the secondary roofs which I roll out on bright days, the 4 1/2 " pipework from the court/play area helps with airflow balancing out the hutch temp, unintentional in it's design but it does somehow work. -
they do it all the time, offer a no reserve item starting at 99p then withdraw it if it's not made the amount they want, does my head in . Also the auction with a reserve but nobody knows what the reserve is, what's the point of that? if you want over a certain amount for something start it at that amount, it's all about insertion fees ( wayhay!!) and paying ebay thier percentage of the selling price, it should be once you've put it in @ 99p start no reserve auction your committed to sell at what ever it goes for.

Semi Auto Shotgun Help
brucemyster replied to 1888andybhoy's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I've always wanted a semi auto and for fathers day the kids clubbed together and bought me a used Remington 1100. I love it, used it once on clays and hit more than normal, mind you as I can't hit sweet FA normally so that's not difficult!! Gun safety is a bit different and has to be thought about a little more, it's all to easy to forget to turn the safety on whilst pushing a couple of shells in. Only thing that could improve it would be a multi choked barrel, other than that can't fault it, had no trouble with jams or cycling and have stuck all sorts of cartridges though it, was a bit surpri -
Yellow Tail Lug, Fork Or Spade?
brucemyster replied to brucemyster's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
Mal, believe it or not if your chopping worms in half your pushing the pump in too deep. Maros used to hold some big blacks in places and yellowtails in others. If there is a surf up (=Low pressure) The top 6" of the sand will be churned up and each wave will flatten the sand so you have a smooth beach, High pressure and the opposite occurs the beach becomes rippled as there is no surf to flatten it out and the sand packs down hard, if the high pressure persists you will even get a layer of silt over the sand as there is no surf to wash it under. Yellow tails and blacks live in vertica -
Hi guys, going out on Seasalter flats tomorrow to dig a few lug for a session on Tuesday, digging on my father in laws licence, I usually use a fork but recently I have noticed a few of the guys using trenching spades, I always worry about damaging the lug with a tine so even more so with the blade of a spade. Does anyone on here use a spade, or are you a fork man? bye the bye never used a bait pump as I would assume you'd need a sandy alluvium and not the claggy clay we get down south?

Here's a quick fix if like me your tailgate button has popped out on your Scenic 1999-2003, a very common problem I've since discovered! repair cost 10p and half an hours work With any luck yours popped out in front of you and you still have it, otherwise they are fairly cheap off ebay. All that holds this little bugger in is an O ring. Pop down your local DIY store, taking said button and if they are anything like mine you can search through a box of O rings for the right one, just has to be a snug fit and be slightly broader than the peg it fits on. Once the O ring is sourced tools requ

Nylon Or Aluminum Flyscreens, Which Do You Prefer?
brucemyster replied to brucemyster's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
mine use a litter tray which I change every day (mind you it has shavings in rather than cat litter) I fed egg and pigeon breast a couple of days back and when I took the bowls out the next day the bowl from the hutch with a fly screen had no fly eggs yet the one without had a cluster, I hate flies, someone on here mentioned citronella spray as a deterrent, which I thought I might give a try but can't seem to get hold of any. I normally would only feed JWB complete during this time of year but as the jills have had kits wanted to give them a boost and also want to be weaning the kits to pigeon -
Nylon Or Aluminum Flyscreens, Which Do You Prefer?
brucemyster posted a topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Just fitted fly screening on my second hutch using nylon fly netting, very easy to cut and fix, I used push pins as didn't want to disturb the jill too much as she's just had kits (I know I should have done it earlier but plans of mice and men and all that twaddle) On my other hutch I've used aluminium fly screen (over twice the price!!) not quite as easy to fix but still cuts with a decent pair of scissors, again fixed with pins for the same reason. I prefer the look of the nylon as it's not as heavy and gives better visibility but obviously not as robust as the ali version. When funds prevai -
Got to agree with onthehunt on this as far as dried food goes, I don't think you can beat JWB, tried others but they just won't touch it. Mind you mine are fussy buggers with fresh meat too, like a rabbit although not to keen on pigeon or squirrel but will eat pigeon breasts if fine cut / minced, WTF is that all about, next they'll be wanting it with a sauce on the side and fries

I'm in Kent and my two have just had litters (born 24th) so still early days, not sure how far away you are but if your interested PM me in a few weeks to see how things are going. I separated my two a about a week and a half before they were due, after asking advice in the forum, and all is going ok at the moment (touch wood) Both the jills are albinos, very slight, and the hob was a beast of a working pole cat, borrowed in so a fresh bloodline, both parents well handled. As I said not sure where your from but I know of at least 3 other litters within a stones throw from me, not sure if their
