    Aye I should image so, we had about 10 goldfish out an old water tank a bit smaller than a washing machine lol just get fish that won't grow to much or too quick, but I'm sure them troughs are bigger or as big as a decent sized tank so why not

    I've inbred birds for 5/6 gens with no ill effects, and by inbreeding I mean close, mum to son, dad to daughter and even nest mates, I was always told it's easier with birds than dogs tho, so never tried it with mutts. I'm in process of trying it with ferrets now tho

    Ruggers you are right some ferrets do pull em out, but they don't mean it, see a rabbit tunnel usually goes only 2 directions, sometimes a ferret will drag a bunny out, but same ferret is just as likely to drag the bunny deeper, just depends what way it's pulling I suppose, I'm not saying you can't train a ferret to cache, I don't know either way. But I'm looking at my ferrets a bit different now as to what I could do with them to keep an ticking over in summer especially

    I agree with both of them for what it's worth gnasher, ideally you'd breed canaries in breeders, but seeing as they are so settled in the aviary it would be a backwards step trying to get them used to cages now, in a perfect world I'd breed canaries in cages using a cock between 2 hens. An then use an aviary for getting the youngsters fit and in tip top condition after leaving nest. Maybe aim for that next year now and just let nature take its course this year, besides I got a sneaky suspicion you'll enjoy watching them more in an aviary, all the very best with them, if breeding results were d
