  1. What about putting sand or something like that round the holes see if any tacks show up or just fill em in see if it digs out mate?
  2. Don't kid yourself they just kill one and run away. There every bit as deadly as a fox. Duno if we ever see em at work they tend to be running off with 1 and no sign of other dead. you know when charlies been coz theres dead everywhere, you can see where its started a load with the heads bit of and buried then rest hardly have a mark on them most we lost was 200 odd in 1 day from a vixen with cubs. Nice smelly chicken that's bin under the brooders all night in trap now so see what happens. I've had hundreds killed a few times before we got a good electric fence fitted and it was a badger. I

  4. Cheers for all your replies, People say they will only eat dead chicken and wont kill em but have seen em killing but unlike fox they kill 1 then run off with it quick. Ive got the trap set on a main track that everything uses next to the electric fence set it there as ive seen foxes there and they tried burying chickens they've killed round there. No badgers sign mite work but doubt theyd be able to read ma writing
  5. Ive recently built some fox traps for round my chicken farms at work and seem to be catching more badgers than I do foxes is there anyway I can prevent this or is it just one of them things?
  6. What about a bit of Tarpaulin fixed on the roof hanging down so you can roll it up as and when you want to put it down, and just secure with a line and bit of wood at the bottom its what works for me and is cheaper than perspex and wont go brittle with the weather.
  7. Its is hard to find tho mate how long this been up on here and still no 1 that can help me out
  8. Forget about it we all got our own ways and dont wory any litters i do from my ferrets its either to keep for myself or people I know and always say if they cant get on with them bring them back. You probly think im new to ferrets but have been around them for about 20 years and not had any problems as yet ive grown up with them and ive always had dark poles and albinos just stuck in my ways i guess
  9. Ive always found you get out what you put in and that some ferrets pick it up a bit quicker than others. Worker to workers is the best option but i dont have that choice as all the people i know dont use hobs so dont have them and out of desperation put WORKER OR NOT to find a hob as i want them in kit as soon as so that i can start the kits next season
  10. Lot of comments but looks like im wasting my time here, we all have our own way of doin things and should respect that ta tho anyway
  11. I prrefer smaller hobs thats what mine was, but im not bothered about the size as the last few litters ive done my jills have had small kits even with different hobs so just any dark poley will do worker or not.
  12. Just what i was thinking. By the sounds of it pets I hope. Why pets? Ive found any ferret can work if you put the time into them im wanting to breed to replace my 1 that i lent out and dindnt get back. And ive bred ferrets before so i know how many kits they can have and what to do just to save people saying not to bother Maybe so but a lot of crap can be bred aswell. Better to breed worker to worker. I wouldn't take the chance of breeding anything into my stock just for sake of colour. But thats just my view. Your ferrets your decision. Hope everything goes how you want it to.
  13. I lent it to our matecoz his was in season before mine and he looked after them before but his terrier got hold of it and enough said

  15. Hi does anyone have a dark polecat hob they would be willing to lend me to breed with my jills in the lincoln area, a good worker would be prefered but if not doesn't matter would be prepared to pay a small fee for there use Cheers Joe
  16. Take the batteries out the collar and the finder because the battery will go flat even when its off, I dont realy mess about with the pinpointer have it turned all the way to the right still works good for me sure other people on here will know more about it.
  17. Not to sound daft this is all new to me how do you contact them about it? Joe
  18. Does anyone know a website or shop in lincolnshire area where you can get spun nylon and rings for making purse nets? And get a long net thats already setup with basket and poles? Thanks Joe Want text talk just cant spell
  19. Does [NO TEXT TALK] know a website or shop in lincolnshire area where you can get spun nylon and rings for making purse nets? And get a long net thats already setup with basket and poles? Thanks Joe
  20. Some sound advice cheers everyone think im going to consider finding a new gun shop as the one im using doesnt seem to have a clue, and stick to shooting at distances im comfy at and maybe ask the question to get something with a bit more whack
  21. I dont think it can be approved for anything bigger because of there been bulk gas tanks dotted all over the place but i can always ask the question
  22. Its been a bad year on all my permission ferreting wise but startin to see a few about now so next year could be promising
  23. Yeah thanks for all your advice I was only asking to make sure I hadnt been fluking it so far, I did think 25-30 yards was a bit of a wind up and just wanted to be 100% sure that its capable of doin the job as I cant realy afford for them to be running off as Im shooting around the chicken farms at work. Ive been shooting the eley subsonic hollows at the minute and they seem to be doin the job unless anyone can recomend anything else? Does the magtech subs differ to the eleys at all?
  24. Im new to shooting foxes and on speaking to my local gun shop they recomended shooting no more than 25-30 yards with the rimfire but ive killed them stone dead at yards. Ive been told by others that they might just be trying to sell me a bigger rifle any advice would be helpful thanks joe
