I got a guide 518 b for sale, its the one Steve mentioned on nightvisionforumuk.com it is mint condition with test certificate and all the accessories it came with. £3200 atb Bob

Thanks. I was half expecting that....z take it you use an Archer? pvs 14 and longbow.pvs is the better picture but risk breaking it on the 22/250 so got longbow for it.
-
I put my friends on my 22/250 and it held zero. the only thing I would say is the pictures you see on youtube etc aren't what you see in the scope, the view through the scope is not as clear and eye relief takes getting used to. I use gen 3 night vision and personally I would save up and get something decent.if you got a low budget then for 400 smackers it will do the job though.
-
hi guys, anyone got and using one of the nightmaster covert lights, if so what do you think about it. I got 800 and 400 ir's and they are great with the pvs 14 and longbow.

I personally wouldn't go on any land without written permission to shoot it, there has been a case lately of armed trespass as the person shooting on the said land thought he had verbal permission from the owner but it turned out to be just a farm worker. the land owner got rather upset ! get it in writing first.

Decoying Crows Whens Thd Best Time To Do It
sprocker dog replied to lampingking's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
if your shooting them this time of year then decoys around a few dead rabbits works for us but the larger bags we shoot are late spring and summer months. laid barley is probably the best crop to shoot them on when it is milky in my opinion. good luck -
Advice Please Guys .17Hmr For Fox?
sprocker dog replied to lfbfiremantom's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I with most of the others on this subject, if its written on your ticket to use on foxes then shoot the buggers with it. just be sensible and don't try long testing shots with it, they do kill 100yds plus but only if you shoot in the right place etc. if your not confident then don't pull the trigger! happy hunting -
was out foxing last night and after an hour or so shot a vixen with my tikka 22/250. I know for the last few weeks now that the foxes are calling here and there so I tried this last night and had good results. after picking the vixen up I squeezed all the urine out of her and placed the digital caller where I picked her up and played the vixen calling bark randomly. settled back about 180yds at a 90 degree angle to the breeze and waited to see if any dogs appeared. within an hour a dog fox appeared and homed straight in to the area and then was shot, I retrieved the body and then went back to

I use 22 Winchester subs and 17gr vmax in the 17. I've used Winchester, remington and hornady in 17gr and there little if any difference.. get to know your rifle, scope and your own capabilities then once you sussed your hold over it just comes naturally, just keep your mag set to your preference and stick with it. as for using hv 22 rounds , yes they kill but I personally don't use them purely due to the noise issue. when we clear rabbits we use 22 subs first and then to get the last shy ones at a longer range we use 17hmr, even when using subs and state of the art nv after hearing their mates
-
I got wtc's on both my 22 and 17 and they are spot on for what I use them for, I leave both of them set on 6 mag and I only have to see a rabbit in the lamp or nv and instantly know hold over or not. I zero the 22 at 65 yds and on 6 mag at 100 yds the top of the bottom thick post is spot on. my 17 is zeroed at 100 yds and at 6 mag top of bottom post in the reticule is 175 yds . hope this helps you..

What .22Rf Ammo You Getting Best Accuracy With
sprocker dog replied to GEOFF.223's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns

Whats The Law On This. Please Read
sprocker dog replied to GEOFF.223's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Isn't that only if unattended? Not in NI its not paragraph 4b on your fac,"reasonable cautions must be taken for safe custody of firearms and ammunition". I have been stopped by police whilst carrying firearms in my car and if they are slipped with the bolt and magazine out then no problem. out of sight is best even if you just throw your coat over the slip its in.whether this applies to n Ireland I don't know.. -
I put 12 bore multi shot shotgun, even sussex police worked it out what was being asked for!

Thoughts On 8 Shot 12G Escort
sprocker dog replied to deerhunter25's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Winchester sx 3 for me, I tried a escort and it was unreliable. we shoot rabbits whilst driving on a quad, one drives one shoots and multi shot is great for that and also when shooting them when combining. my sx3 has never failed yet so if you can find one for the right price it would be money well spent! -
guys, I have a guide ir5 18b monocular handheld thermal imager. it is boxed and absolutely mint as only used twice, £3850 no offers. due to time wasters this unit is still for sale.
-
I got a 1417 and cant fault it. a good gunsmith will be able to sort it no problem. atb bob

id suggest just use what you know you shoot well with. obviously the more shots the better because bolting rabbits can be like busses, you wait for one for ages then three come at once! I use a fac multi shot now but then i'm paid to get rid of them but when I was a boy I had a single four ten and had just as much fun using that.

well done mate, enjoyment is what its all about. keep up the good work

There are a LOT of people here who haven't shot anything like that quantity in their whole life. 10,000 a year equates to approx. 27 a DAY, EVERY day of the year, that is a LOT of rabbits, there will be very few that achieve those numbers. I don't shoot 27 rabbits every day of the whole year, that is just a silly comment. if you had any experience of shooting rabbits on a large scale as I and other pest controllers do then you would appreciate that 90% are shot at night using nv and when I say night it isn't just a couple of hours, it is normally dusk till dawn. some nights obviously
-
When it's your job to get rid of pests you do spend a lot of time shooting rabbits and other vermin. Done 3 nights in the last week and shot 393 , it's the busy weeks of the year that make the numbers up,spring and autumn are the busiest. For the record we cover a very large area probably totalling 20 000 acres. I'm not into the numbers game , I only wanted to know if any other people have noticed any change in that ammo. Thanks for all your comments.
