  1. Up 'til recently my dogs feet have been tough as fook.. I dropped back on the roadwork though and they seem to have softened
  2. None of mine will swim But I hope to sort that this summer Right now, I keep mine in condition with roadwork, WP, a-frame, flirt-pole and general craziness about the house..lol.. I have seen dogs that swim a lot that are very overweight. As with people, I guess the 'trick' is a combination of diet and exercise.. Something I want to do this year is run the dog alongside my pushbike... see what 5-10 miles of running every other day does for my dogs overall condition.

    How many on here

Never been to Scotland or Ireland.. they are on the list of places to go before I die though.. Who knows, I might even get them ticked off one day.
  4. I hear ya.. Does that link deal with green tripe or the washed/bleached stuff? Do you think there'd be a difference? Took a look at the Prize Choice feeding guide and the levels of moisture they quote are all very similar.
  5. Got a link for those matey?? Was wandering on ebay and found a laser sighted one... wonder how effective that would be
  6. Not what I'd been led to believe, but I'll take your word for it It's account for about 40-50% of my dogs diet.....
  7. I'm sorry to say I think she looks underweight.. Green tripe is good for building lean muscle mass too.. I would add a tin of (something like) pilchards to the list a week, although, rabbit brains contain Omega3.. Wondering if swapping to Keepers Mix instead of the Seaweed supplement could help too. I've found it hard to get weight back on when feeding raw, took me weeks to get my dog looking 100% after a week of loose stools.
  8. How accurate and effective are slingshots for popping off rabbits? What would be the ideal slingshot for the job?
  9. Thanks Just noticed Ices feet are pretty cut up too but she hasn't shown any signs of lameness.. she tears the garden up with the boomer ball though so it could be that. On the scout for some pad hardener now.. another addition to the first aid kit..lol..
  10. After the flirt pole workout with my little (50lb) bitch, I noticed she was a bit lame in both back legs.. Couldn't find owt wrong by manipulation and was a tad perplexed... Then I brushed one of her feet lightly and she reacted instantly.. took a closer look and she's got flaps of pad hanging off her feet (off the big pad, not the littluns)... only way I can describe it is like if she'd had a blister and the edges had burst leaving quick a think flap of skin... Now she's not had this before so I'm at a bit of a loss of how to fix it. The only possible reason I can think of is that
  11. We've been leaving the pup alone for the most part too.. she's coming up to 10months and I want to start her training in the coming months. Once we're a little more rural, I should have it much easier from a training point of view. Wishful thinking?? Yeah, reckon it is.. doubt I'll get a recall like I've seen here.
  12. Had this discussion on our board... The majority opinion was that it was very unsafe to feed wild rats to your dogs because of the risk of disease (Weils most significantly) But I've seen pics and read tales of the terrier folk hunting rats.. wondered if they went into the food chain or the bin/incinerator. Sorry, forgot to add.. Had a quick chat with one of our friends about badger as dog food too. she'd seen some very fresh roadkill (badger, looked to be an adult male) and wondered if it could be used. I wasn't sure, my feeling was that it would probably be ok to add to
  13. Anyone feed rats to their dogs?
  14. Had tinnitus for years now too... from rushing water to a constant whistle to like a high pitched scream. One of the unknown benefits of 19years working in computer rooms. My GP said there are things that can be put in your ears that make another noise which counteracts the noise you hear. Didn't refer me to a specialist though... that was as far as he got the other thing some folk do is (as has been said ) 'learn' not to hear it. Gotta do something soon I think.. this year it's really started to drive me nuts
  15. Didn't see the bullbreeds bit when I first signed up... will dig some out and chuck a few in there thanks for the welcome guys... seems I got loads of reading to do
  16. Hi all... stumbled into here from a Google search, loved the greenness and signed up. Living in urban Essex (that will be changing soon, moving to slightly more rural Essex), got 3 American Bulldogs, run an American Bulldog forum with my partner and some very good friends. We do weight-pull and lure racing with the dogs as well as general conditioning stuff like a-frame and flirt pole. Hoping for some kennel-space in our new home (well, in the garden ) so I want to add (probably) a lurcher to the pack. In the meantime I'll have to satisfy myself with reading about stuff and lo
