  1. Do a search for Microwave Jam Recipe......great if you don't have pounds of fruit, it's quick, and works a treat. Tried it with raspberries. It forced me to request more scones from Mrs Jay!
  2. Think you'd be better off using something like flubenvet for gapes. Have used Panacur for worms, but I think it only treats intestinal worms, whereas gapes is in the throat/windpipe area. ATB J
  3. Today, I have MOSTLY been.....cleaning out the gutters. Peeyoo! Stank like a dead crab it did.

  10. Oooh....now THAT'S a fixer upper! Could really do things with a place like that. All I need is loads of money And loads of time
  11. Guess we know who's the boss, there then.
  12. Have seen a few do 'proper' hovering, and many just 'hanging' on an updraft or thermal. Apparantly, those that can actually hover pass on the knack to their offspring, so the numbers of Buzzard seen hovering is on the increase. Well, that's what I heard, anyway. J
  13. Agree with 223, netting the most effective method. This year I'm growing Nasturtiums nearby to act as a 'sacrificial' plant, hopefully drawing the Cabbage White away from my cabbages. Like the sound of the bi-carb trick, 223
  14. Drove over one, once. Perhaps they like tarmac? Have used peanut butter on traps manys the time. And sometimes it worked!
  15. A couple of ikkle baby wabbits.....loads of slugs....and a Robin, sadly
  16. Cheers to all! Have used 'wishy-washy' kits.....some ok, some not so ok Last few I've used have been Woodfordes, and they do produce a decent pint Only trouble I got is leaving them in the bottle long enough to condition properly. Just working through 'Nelsons Revenge', and it's a tad more-ish J
  17. Nice to know there's another vulcan being put to good use Good shooting, lad.
  18. Having to live in a city, and my wife being attacked by a giant onion spider! Can't stand cities, don't like spiders....and am allergic to onions! Do like my wife, though

    Swallows...

Saw 3 yesterday...first for the year. Is it really spring, now?
  20. Was going to put me spuds in yesterday, but got side-tracked making 3 compost bins (easily distracted, me!). They're blinkin' HOOGE! Never fill the things. Piddling down with rain today.....spuds'll have to wait till tomorrow Peppers and toms in the greenhouse. Just need things to warm up a bit (don't we all?)
  21. Have had a couple of goes with my mates pcps.....was very inpressed with them both, but, for some reason I can't bear to part with my noisy old Webley Vulcan. Something about the weight, the feel, or maybe the big 'clang' whenever I fire it. To me, with my limited experience, it just feels like 'proper' hunting.

    Swallows...

Saw my first on the 4th April last couple of years. Doubt it'll be the same date this year, though.
