    42 years ago i was young 16 .i had my first dog over the years many dogs have passed thru my hands.deerhounds x greyhounds some are so weak and skinny with little intrest in hunting some were heavy greyhoundy bulit keen as mustard and fast.i have saluki x greyhound some could run forever but were slow motion runners .some were fast and keen and could stay all day.i had bull terriour x some were hard but to slow some were fast and as keen as anything.i had lots of lurcher to lurcher some could not stay were to fine coated and to thin on the pads one or two were great but most were not .lurche

    long nets can be used to catch large amounts of rabitts especially on dk windy nights it is best to walk the ground you are going to net clearing away debris .remember to make sure the loose netting the kill is spread evenly along the net otherwise it will be to tight in places causeing the rabitts to bouce off it .also remember to make sure the net is evenly spaced with enough pegs

    the most important thing to remember about gsd x g is that they are a very slowy matureing dog .do not exspect any speed untill at least 10 months top speed comes slower with this cross 12 months at least before they start giveing any idea of how fast they will be.so patienceis the order of the day with this cross

    nice waterproof coat lovely head on him very well constructed .inteligient looking dog will be hard but very laid back and calm not easily excited about 28 29 at shoulder. 85 lbs.will make good marker dog and good hedge basher great for pushing out gamefor the gun .will kill foxes easily due to weight height and physhical power will not tear skin easily nice strong thick pads good constuction plenty of bone.a proper mooching dog.wont be as fast as racier dogs but will more than make up for it with stamina brains and sheer power

    alsatianxgreyhound 1980.10 years old went over to billington put a hare up dog coursed it ragged turned the hare a few times just missed killing it.went past gypsy camp lurchers came out as usaul many times they had ganged up on him and he always gave them a good pasteing.today seemed a bit disintrested .dog lay on his couch lifted his head up looked at me for the last time let out a little whine and fell dead.got very emotional he even coursed a hare on the day he died

    i would dispute comments on german shephed x greyhound haveing no guts.in the seventies i was out lamping when my gsd x grey 27 inch 85lbs .for some stupid reason he decided he wanted to attack a boar badger couldnt get him off it .the.dog ended up with his nose nearly torn off his face looked like someone had slashed him with a scapel he was a bloody mess .he was very angry and fired up i thought the boar would kill him but it eneded up the other way round.i was very upset and annoyed a boar badger dead and my dog ripped very badly .huge vet bill and could never go in badger areas with him

    this year on my permission took out my 12ftlbs airgun only shot one or two a week as i didnt want to make to big a dent in the population .september came fields were crawling with rabitts .i thought right time to take a few .myxy came now im lucky to see one or two had to put the gun in the attic as to few left to shoot.must leave whaht is left to try to recover .to many mobile phones to many do gooders police up my way waste thousands flying in helicopters and driveing around in 4x4 vehicles.instestead of chaseing real criminalls.now i know how the north american indian felt when his buffalo

    your battery is knackerd my car battery was taken off the car as it was flat green charge light came on charger after 5 mins battery completely flat.you can buy one off ebay for 14pounds 70pence yuassa very good japanese battery

    thinking about getting back into lurchers been out several times in the last few weeks looking at ground thaht i hunted in the early seventies .went across to a place called mentmore walked around ledburn then walked over to slapton and a place called billington.all in bedfordshire.see 1 hare very few rabitts plenty of pigeons 4 chinese water deer plenty of ducks hardly any moorhens .walked up and down loads of winter barley no hare forms hardly any rabitt diggings ,the ground has a very empty strange silent feeling to it feels like its been neutron bombed.used to be able to course a hare and

    i had german shepherd x greyhounds in the period of 1970 to 1987 .they are killing machines very hard very strong excellent stamina brilliant trackers and markers .this cross is very versatile ferreting long netting tracking of prey over long distances,they willl work big hawthorn hedges and will bulldoze thru blackberry bushes also excellent flushing dogs for the shotgun.very calm not nervous need very firm handling and can be very hard on other dogs.they have a ability to think for themselves which is very usefull.if you get one who throws right they are plenty fast enough for any quarry .

    if you want a good lurcher it is best to start from scratch.ist cross collie x greyhound labradorx greyhound german shepherd to a greyhound etc paying 500 pounds is no guarenetee of sucess.also the make up of the 500 pound dog needs to be taken into consideration plus the make up of the dam .walking around a show ring means nothing to me poseing is as poseing does .if i couldnt breed my own and have to pay 500 pound for a lead poser then i would give up .once the gods make a good dog the mould is broken and thrown away .ie ballyregan bob scurlouge champ.in over 43 years of breeding dogs i onl
