    From reading various posts mate i think you have your fair share of dreamers over there too and the black dog, whilst mine and yours preference is just a colour .To write off another breed in another mans yard is foolhardy. Good and bad in all of them mate as im sure you are aware .Maybe I'm wrong but when I know what I know and I see what I see with my own two eyes I'd like to think I could walk away from most yards with a fairly good opinion on a man and his dogs.Regarding dreaming ? I dream of sexy women but when awake I think of little else other than hunting. The same as most terrierme

    Smasher, That was the point, I have only the highest respect for the Black dogs, dug over some excellent terriers from this line. My interest was in where they came from, how the men who started the strain selected their breeding stock and perfected their line. I put up the pedigrees from 3 men who are credited with the foundation stock. Noticed a gap in the lined asked if anybody could fill it. A case of a little knowledge looking for more knowledge. I will learn from anyone willing to part with information. Have had PM's from men who know some of the history of this line and they

    I can't remember the last time I seen it done but there's a few times I've been in different companies hunting and seen so called great terriers fail in earths that pups should be digging out of and some of the reasons why make me believe that doubling up was the next port of call only we was in there company

    The last few replies to your question are about what lads prefer nowadays but doesn't answer your question about who strives to breed or keep a type that is the same as the same type many, many years ago.IMO only a few men can honestly put their hands on their hearts and say they do and those men are a few Jack Russell breeders and a few Fell breeders.
