Bleedin hell i am a bit stunned like. BBc2 is showing prime time a positive light on keepering. Following a young keeper about his work. The BBC likes to show anything of this nature late at night and usually against any sort of fieldsports. Ok Ok it was only 3mins or so but this has to be progress dosent it?

Coming home from work today i seen a dead mole at the side road. 34 years old and never seen one in real life. Like a wee bean bag.I know they do alot of damage but have admit i thpught it was quite a bonny thing. It was about 5" long. Seen plenty molehills and been out with a trapper (never caught anything) Think it was either run down (not much damage to it) or it died naturally. Why would it have been out of the ground?

DS consider this cheeky, but if you had a pot of gold going spare I WOULD find you!! I too live remote but Aberdeenshire freecycle is flung far and wide and i am lucky enough to have transport. I normally have to meet people to give them stuff tho as they get lost. Let me know when that pot of gold is available

Cracking looking pup. We have a LakexPatt 5year old dog. (our first one) no expert on them just experiences of our own. Hes a dog that has on his mind at all times kill or breeding!. Has a few strange quirks like chasing his tail and sitting in his water bowl. He can be grumpy but a is real comedian. Is brilliant on rats and rabbits and has gone underground on a few occasions but he is a ratter mainly. He took a long time to mature but think that was more our fault than his. Will try and get a photo up. Good luck with her shes lovely.

Yep shame our farmers and smallholders couldnt use a religion to protect their herds during the foot and mouth crisis.

Just got this by email at work >>In the year 2007 the Lord came unto Noah, who was now living in >>England and said, "Once again, the earth has become wicked and >>over-populated, and I see the end of all flesh before me. Always have to borrow the old mans over trousers for beating and being out with terriers. Can anyone (especially the girls) recomend a good pair of over trousers that are suitable for a lass under 5'2" that wont look like clown trousers! Thanks

What a lovely litter. And simoman love your pair of GSD's. We are on our 2nd GSD a very sharp bitch with a high prey drive. She is convinced shes a Gundog, i think i may even take her beating this year. Very easy to train but not very tolerant if i make mistakes in training! Her lines are German Seiger and guess thats why she is so motivated to work.Used our orphan labs for stock braeking all the dogs seems to work well. Always wondered what a GSD X Greyhound would be like. Good luck with them.

Have been seeing the footage on the telly, its a nightmare. Hope the waters stop rising and recede soon. Must be a awful too for farmers with their livestock/kennels etc. Hope you are all ok soon.

Enough enough. Think i might bubble into my wine! Love Scotland but miss seeing hounds. Get to surround a wood couple times a year while they send hounds in to flush to guns but nowhere near the same as following a pack on foot or horseback even these days with a trailed scent. As for them Welsh Hounds very nice and liking the Bedlingtons more and more - not sure if the old man will let me have any more dogs though mmmmm.

Again that 3rd is a corker. It could conjure up a 100 stories of Dianas hounds hunting in the wild forest! Tell me something (apologies for ignorance here) Is the broken coated hound from minkhound stock?. Used to follow the Berkeley Hunt when i was a kiddie so only saw smooth coated hounds but pics of Minkhounds ive seen are broken coated. Handsome devils in the second pic!

Wow thats some pics. I love that 3rd one. Worthy of a print run. One of my favourite panitings is Evening Song (hounds at dusk) and this now matches it. Very envious of you working with hounds. Happy Annivesary.

SporryI know this topic has been discussed at length but i wonder if any of you would know why a pup sometimes gets reaction to a jag. Took 2 of the litter at 8wks to get there 1st jag. Bitch pup was fine but dog pup develped a hard lump after. Was sore for a couple days. Is is a reaction to actual vaccine or is it just cos he's sensitive to the process of being jagged? I know i shouldve asked vet today when they had there 2nd jag but totally forgot. cheers

To add another tuppence worth, this is my agenda. I pay my taxes for: (and like most i pay alot through smoking, drinking, driving a 4 x 4 gas guzzler) Decent health care ( i personally dont want to see a foreign quack who can neither understand me well or me him/her) Excellant care for the elderly who have worked damn hard all their lives for what? If a couple has been married for years why oh why can they not get a double room in a residential home together????? (one of my biggest bugbears) Decent education for the nations youngsters Keeping rural po's/shops open And a nice wee p

Anyone any idea what this is?

is there any smell to it? -
From all the googling ive done the only hoverflies i can match them to are either chrysotuxum cautum (likes to sunbathe) or heliophilu pendulus (likes water) sorry still cant catch one to photo it as its still dull here and they are not about. Cant make a definate match on either till i match the exact markings. As for the question of 'growing' or not thats one i will definately be doing more research on! Thanks for all the replies everyone

Dont think its about being racist against colour its more to do with ethics, morals and culture. We (although i am an atheist) are a Christian nation and it should stay that way. I work with a Russian guy who has come to this country to live work and bring his family up here. Now he works hard, pays his taxes and generally is an asset. However anyone coming here or being born here intent on changing the culture of this Island is not welcome. If i went to a Muslim country and wore a bikini walking round the streets i would be arrested as that is not the done thing so why do we in the western wo
