  1. Thanks for the replies a lot of info there and the video was good to watch I'll start to set it up properly and see how I get on. I shoot ttf sideways I find that easiest. I have made home made ones but never banded them up. I have a picture but not sure how to post it?

  3. Hi, I've been using the proshot blood sport for a while now after reading the the treads on here when I was looking for a starter catapult. After quite a few fork hits I finally got to grips with it and my accuracy is down to a jam jar lid about 15m (paces) away, I've tried single and double bands and been using 9.5mm steel bb as ammo. Single bands I find it hard to get power and accuracy as my anchor point is passed my head, I was resting the band on my cheek bone but wasn't that great. With the handle of the catapult I find it slightly too long to fit in my hand properly as well. Where sho

  5. The little stinker is doing fine still a little wobbly yesterday but eating and drinking well. Today even better seems more alert still eating well and lively. Pretty sure he's going to be ok.
  6. I have a silver hob that's 9 weeks old and I f***ing dropped it on the patio. I'm absolutely gutted, slipped out of my hands as I was holding two. It's had a seizure I held it in my hands and it came round. Slowly but surely it seems to be improving. Eaten twice and seems a lot better made sure it's had water too. Still a little clumsy on its feet. I'm taking it up the vets tomorrow for a check up. Have I done the right thing? Is there any advice anyone has. I feel awful for the poor little thing.
  7. Been out tonight for a walk on a lead at first due to walking along the roads. Walked to my permission which is a fruit farm although the factory part has a huge car park and private roads so nice and quite and it's lit up so we could see. Let him off the lead and walked about he stayed close seemed a bit scared to go off, got him to sit and wait I walked away checking on him as I went he just sat there, I didn't go to far at first. Called his name and "come on" and off he went straight towards me, lots of praise when he arrived he loved it lol. Did this a few times increasing the distance a b
  8. I have a mate with a grass field holds a few rabbits but it's quite and and away from anyone going to go over there this weekend and give his recall a go we've done a bit at home he sits and stays well. He will sit on the footpath at the front of the house I can get him to recall in though the house to the back garden. No sure how he would be if there were distractions so the field seems like a good place. Cos if he does go off least he can't get out of the field.
  9. Gonna have my work cut out then :-) he's shown more interest in a leaf blowing in the garden when ive been trying to call him in so I can see where your coming from.
  10. Just out of interest how do you go about teaching recall? My pups only 13 weeks atm he's a Bedlington terrier. When out for walks so we don't really let him off the lead yet. How do you go about teaching your dogs?
  11. Hi I've found this topic interesting with some helpful advice. I have a Bedlington Terrier who is 12 weeks although he won't be used for a gun dog I do like the principles of gun dog training I feel heel work is important to me especially when off the lead. With what has been already said do you think I can do the same with my dog? Also at 12 weeks would it be a good time to start heel work training? I'm new to dogs and training but would like to get it right, Is there a big difference in terriers and spaniel's? All the best Kieren.

    Badgers

I was pretty sure there was nothing that could been done other than just leave them alone and hope they move on. Thought I'd check on here though. So thank you for the replies, anyone got Brian Mays number?

    Badgers

Hi a friends parents house backs onto a field where badgers have set up a set. The set has now gone into their garden. They asked if there is anything they can do to get rid of them as they have dug up the garden. I have said that I don't think there is anything that they can do legally to move them on. Am I right or is there anything that could be done?
  14. Thanks for the reply I've sent a message so hopefully hear back soon cheers again
  15. About 8 months ago I was given the details of someone who would make a long net that was 4 x 25yard 6z and poles plus basket for £140. I never took up the offer and now I seem to have lost the details of who it was in my emails? I've read through some of the posts on here but no names seem to ring a bell. Does this offer sound like anyone you would know? If not who would be good to get in touch with about making a long net like above. Cheers for any help.
  16. This would be my first, I totally agree with getting out and experiencing it first hand as you say it might not be for me, this isn't something I'm thinking of rushing into just interested to know more where to start, what to learn what should be expected of the dog what to expect of the quarry. How to start out with the training (as the title) just as much info as I can as i wouldn't want to fail the dog. I have thought about a beddy defiantly but I'm here to learn and if its something that I do go on to do and a beddy isn't right then I wouldn't have make that mistake at the first hurdle. Th
  17. Brother in laws got a Russell that he wants to work maybe going with him first might be a good idea although that might be like the blind leading the blind :-p
  18. I've read John Glovers the working bedlington and then David harcombe's the working terrier which I must say was a lot better there seems to be a lot of bad press on John glover in the bedlington scene?? I will look up Darcy books and see if I can get hold of any. I do think the best way would be to get myself out there watching and learning from others who are doing the work. Just don't know of anyone my way at the minute. I've got time on my hands to relax but don't want to ruin a good dog though lack of knowledge if I can brush up before hand. I realize that no book or DVD could beat hands
  19. Hi all my names Kieren I'm just getting back into ferreting after a few years away from it all and hopefully going to start long netting so will be reading the threads on here. Also in the near future I will be looking to get myself a beddy to work. So if anyone can help me out with info on earth work and of course the basics it will be much appreciated. Looking forward to reading your replies on my post Atb Kieren
  20. Hi there, I'm hoping to own a bedlington terrier soon that I will want to work this will be my first dog/bitch and just wondering where to start as I don't know of anyone else working terriers to ground or on top. So if anyone has info or knows of books or DVDs please let me know. I'm in no rush to get a dog just want to gather as much info as I can to be at least a little bit prepared Atb Kieren
  21. Hello there getting back into ferreting after a good few years out of it. Currently have two ferrets Jill and a hob but looking for another Jill to add to my team. My two are only 7 months so if anyone is looking to rehome a Jill around the same age or older I would be interested to hear. I live in Essex just out side of Colchester if any one could help. Many thanks Kieren
