  1. Masking tape your cutting line, both sides before cutting. Works... Sharp saw helps too. Did do mate, but was still getting small chips and cracks. Not too bad really, just put the cut ends up against the wall and lapped it with adhesive flashing. Needed to be clear to let light into the kitchen otherwise it would have been marine ply and mineral felt.
  2. Stuff I used was thin and clear, b*stard to cut and drill as well.
  3. Had it on my lean to/covered pergola, and it goes very brittle after about 5-6 years. Had hailstones come through it, as well as fireworks/rockets shattering it. Eventually replaced it with twin polycorbonate sheets. Been on about 5 years and no signs of wear, Hail and fireworks are no problem. Both products from Wickes.
  4. Yes lovely place to visit the local people that live there all had there doors wide open aswell so must be pretty safe Yes, it looks a nice place. Quite a few scenes in the film War Horse were filmed there, and I only recognised it because I painted a watercolour scene from an art tutorial book a few years back. It is a popular place for artists as well, as is a lot of the Cotswolds.
  5. Saw it on the news yesterday, was waiting for them to give a rendition of 'Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner'...
  6. Enough bunny meat for a couple of pots of rabbit stefado, and new perms et al... can't grumble at that, good result.
  7. I have a neighbour lives 4 houses from me, and we both got our puppy's about the same time. Introduced them and would go for walks together. An urban fox used to visit his garden and he used to feed it (yeh, probably the one kept shitting in my garden). He medicated it with Milbemax and Advocate, and introduced his doberman puppy to it, and they used to play. Fortunately he took a bit of footage. Excuse the state of his garden, he was, and still is, doing a lot of remodelling/building work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Y283Ck3dok https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uv5GFFcZlAE htt
  8. Unable to help with identification, but often wondered at different variety of bees that visit my 'townie' garden. Whilst taking the dog for his morning walk to the park the other saturday, I came across a small swarm of bees on the footpath. Kept the dog clear of them, and let him have his run, thinking some good citizen would deal with the bees by getting in touch with any local beekeepers.. When taking him for his afternoon walk, the swarm was still there. Whilst I was putting his bag of poo into the nearby shit bin he decided to investigate why the 'ground' appeared to be moving. I cal
  9. Got rid of Sky last year and don't miss it at all. Repeats of repeats of repeats, and couldn't even watch those if there was a rain cloud in the sky as it would pixelate and/or lock up. They would deny that the weather affected the signal, but admitted it in the end. Used to get on my nerves all the courtesy calls where they were trying to flog you more of their shit. Was with them at the beginning when it was analogue, and back then when it rained or was stormy the picture would get 'sparklies', so no real improvement in all those years.
  10. Well done, cracking fish Good luck with your quest for a 4pounder. Had one of 3lb 3oz some years back, by accident rather than design, on a light livebait rig after jacks.
  11. Some few years back I saved some cheeks and cured them into bacon, always handy having a bit of commercial bacon dry cure, and hot smoked them and they were lovely warm, and cold in a sandwich with picalilli. I like the brawn as well, but the wife won't touch it.
  12. Well GG, you've got to be happy with that I've used a lot of American White Oak in the past and love working with it. I saved all the AWO chippings from my planer thicknesser and use it to hot smoke sausages, chicken and pork with in my converted filing cabinet, adds a beautiful flavour and rich golden colour. Waste not want not.
  13. Thanks GG, yep took ages to carve. Was only a stopgap marker while the headstone was being altered, my brother now has the cross. Seemed to be a fair bit of silica in this batch, sparks were flying as I used the tablesaw and bandsaw... more than usual. I find the dust of most hardwoods pretty aggressive even wearing a mask. Also made a memorial bench out of it, and a 6 seater patio table and chairs, looks nice when it's oiled up.
  14. Yep, got to agree there, very tricky indeed. Did an interim grave marker a couple of years back. Had a couple of practises with the router, but didn't have the confidence to use the router on the actual piece, so used hand carving chisels on the iroko, flooding the lettering with black enamel paint.
  15. I wonder why the 'system' did not pick up on the same address in Bow being used over 400 times, as it appears it was only because the airport staff alerted the old bill about the amount of Bangladeshis arriving at stanstead around the same time, that they decided to investigate.
  16. Have seen that a few times, one time at Chipstead lakes watched a mother with a line of ducklings following, big swirl and the last one dissappeared. Mother duck went down 3 times after it but eventually came up and gathered the rest of her brood and carried on. Also seen a coot chasing a grss snake across the water, never seen a grass snake swim that quickly before and it reached the island and got away.
  17. Bangladeshis based in Italy have been flying over here to claim housing benefits etc, for a number of years, and costing us millions. One address used in Bow, East London, has been used over 400 times. I wonder how many more similar scams are yet to be unearthed. READ IT HERE
  18. The new hammer assembly arrived yesterday, so I got straight on with it. Applied a little smear of fine sewing machine oil prior to fitting. First shot through crono was well over the top so gradually brought it down to 11.5 ft/lbs. Had to put about 150 pellets through it before it settled in, which I didn't expect to have to do. Just need to get my bottle refilled and re-zero the scope and chrono it again of course.
  19. Hw100bob, don't know if you have encountered the same as me, but try not to allow the pellet probe/cocking lever assembly come too far out when removing the hammer assembly, otherwise you will need to grow a third hand to get the spring back on the shuttle and keep it there whilst replacing the lever/probe. My inexperience as a 'fettler' truly coming to the fore. BTW, my part still hasn't arrived yet.
  20. Those bones would make a nice stock for a cawl
  21. Just ordered one as well, let us know how you get on with yours please. Once it arrives and I've installed it I will have another go at trying to remove the original again.
  22. My HW100 has dropped 1.2 ft/lbs in two and a half years, so had a go at trying to move the anti tamper yesterday. Wouldn't budge, even heated rather drastically over the cooker burner until the assembly turned blue and still solid. Also, can see no way to dismantle the assembly to replace the anti tamper with a hex one.
  23. Back in the 60's used to have a metalwork teacher called Mr. Sparks. (mind you, he did teach woodwork as well)
