  1. just been out with a mate and his lakie bitch. she must've found worst occupied hole on the field. as she tried to drag it out she got stuck in the clay which seemed to suck her in. finally managed to dig under her back legs and pull her out that way-quarry n all. quite a scarey morning but happy and productive ending. will put some pics up when i find how to!
  2. exactly thats why i dont bother going to shows now, its full of fuzzy fluffy pink people who basically collect ferrets to show & go to the ends of the earth to win , it stinks mate not your ferret suppose its the same as in the dog game - those who breed to work and those who breed to show with very few who successfully do both!
  3. quote name='Bigbob' date='Feb 3 2008, 07:30 PM' post='416683'] Nice one mate i thought all ferret shows where run during the summer when the hobs have dropped there nuts and are smelling and all the jill are in season or have kitts seems a better time to have a ferret show just now was embarrassed by mine - his balls are well swollen and he stunk. most of the ones shown had been done and smelt of baby wipes
  4. the kids have been to their first ferret show today. 10 yr old won a 3rd in junior handler but the ferret got nothing. we thought he was a big blackeyed white but he's a big ruby eyed silver (that must make us sound a bit stupid but his colour got them all going!)and although the folk there were friendly enough you knew from the minute you walked in he never stood a chance. it was blind judging and not half as entertaining as watching them in a ring and certainly not as exciting as watching them out in the field but a fun change of scenery for us all and well worth a look!
  5. was it handwritten same as those we got when you were here? i got another letter on same paper after you left which just slagged me off. dont let it get to you thats what they want-a reaction size]
  6. just to add that over the last couple of days a t least 5 of the rats the dogs have caught were ready to drop. dont know whether they have regular breeding seasons which start now or whether global warming etc got to them too!
  7. sounds like a plan- would love one for my birthday but mum keeps saying not yet lv taz
  8. that makes sense n will be easy to do cos she does it as soon as i let her out 9 times out of 10.
  9. we lost a young hob not long back. turned up 2 doors away in the slipper of an old bloke who constantly moans about how noisy the dogs are and reckons we shouldnt be allowed kennels on the garden. gave us a good laugh when it turned up and another chance for him to contact the council. think he mustve felt a bit daft cos we never heard any more!
  10. personally wouldnt kennel 2 dogs together but i suppose it depends on the personality of the dogs and how well socialised they both are. youd need to let them run together and see how they get on and keep a close eye on them when foods around or if you've got a bitch in season on the yard. most dogs will use any excuse for competition.
  11. ive only used them for horses and foals but they are easy to use and work really well. dont know whether the way you'd use them on a dog could lead to accidental slip ups . will try one on my 10 month old presa pup who is as weighty and excitable as they come and let you know /size]
  12. "rescued"2 young adults off a dealer a few weeks back. they were just skin and bone and would bite as soon as look at you.one had to be syringe fed lactol every couple of hours or so for first couple of days and then put on wet kitten food. they are both as fit as fcuk now eat anything and leap out for a fuss as soon as cage door is opened. the kids are arguing at the min cos one wants to race them and the other one wants to take them out with the lurcher. i dont see why they cant do both but if they werent arguing over that it'd be over something else i suppose!
  13. got my young lurcher bitch at 6 weeks old and before she was kenneled outside at about 18 weeks she was fully house trained. she wont piss or shit in her kennel now and i have to get up at stupid times in a morning to let her out whenever she kicks off. have tried letting her out last thing at night but its the same story even if shes been out for a shine and not got in till late. have tried feeding her in the morning instead of later and her box is well bedded and warm. cant leave her kennel open cos she'd start the others off and her run is a good size anyway. have tried doubling her up with
  14. and if she is anything like my kids you are going to have a struggle getting out in the field on your own now! (
  15. use it when i get given it for all the dogs. really good for filling pups out with but some bits better cooked
