  6. My old bitch was very like him, very salukified, and had the same long flat feet all of her life, used to glide effortlessly with a very light footed floating running style, used to make her look like she was'nt trying, but when you looked at what she was running, you could tell she was motoring, roadwork did'nt alter her feet, but she was very durable, only remember her having one toe injury after running flat out down a bank and across a road on the back of a hare
  7. Any info on the st bernard hybrid,I hear they are powerful retrievers of duty free products

  14. Soak meat overnight in saltwater, rinse and dice hare put in casserole dish with onions, carrots mushrooms, packet of colmans beef casserole mix, slow cook in oven about 6 hours simple and deliciousthx lad similar too what we do my gran also makes soup from them still need some thing for the BBQ though we usually make rabbit burgers and venison steaks and burgers sousages and ribs just can't find many dishes from hare cos we like too experiment Never heard of anyone cooking a hare on a bbq, think slow cooking is the thing with this meat, though I do know some lads that spit roasted a whole hare one
  15. I take it you have never seen a golden pheasant
  16. Anyone fancy putting a circus together
  17. Use to be great preban for getting deerdogs fit !!!! Why would you need to run hares to get a dog fit for deer ?
  18. I'm sick of this site with all these fanny's and their famous dogs, keyboard coursers the lot of you (us)
  19. There is a lot of land just like that in north east england,a dog has to be fast and tight running to keep on them,a lot of the time you need a dog that can box them up and really put the pressure on,get some good exciting runs on this type of rough land
  20. 'Blown to bits'? That's a very emotive way of describing some shot hares. It's a bit like shooters saying 'Torn to bits' when talking about dogged hares. Neither is a correct description, nor do they do anything to help. Agree with you there matt, think it's an easy thing for a coursing enthusiast to become sentimental over hares, very natural predator/prey fieldsport, survival of the fittest, sometimes not just for the hare either atb
  21. Maybe not as much of a headache as someone else's adult dog,you never know what some of them have been put through, ran too hard, and caused some organ damage when unfit,no proper livestock breaking etc, things like this may not be apparent until further down the line, and the short route turns into the long route
  22. i wasn't talking about driven shoots, and to say that the hare population would recover if shotguns and rifles were totally banned, surely you can't believe that. when you see hare shoots take place on the fen .and driven shoots at that . hares in the hundreds being shot .on multiple farms and estates both in lincoln .norfolk .cambridge and peterborough .every year .you then realise what effect shotguns are having on the hare population .then on top of that you get the night time shooters .dogs do nothing to the detriment of a healthy hare population .its farmers and game keepers that have
