    1. tote

      tote

Have you ever walked the lonesome hills

      And heard the curlew's cry

Or seen the raven black as night

      Upon a windswept sky

      To walk the purple heather

And hear the west wind cry

To know that's where the rapparee must die

  5. I was considering a father / daughter mating,in the hope that a particular running style could be maintained,as there was no stud dog of this breeding that I could find, the owner of the bitch was'nt too keen so I did'nt push it,I do remember an accidental mating of brother and sister deerhounds, the pups turned out well both as workers and show dogs,I hope your pups come good for you atb
  6. Yes they both work, they are all rounders. Tazi are more of a hunting dogs, my bitch is more more of a mountain type than open steppe type so she is more at home on rough ground than flat open fields. I'm going to be honest here as I really don't want to waste anyones time (including my own), I am really looking for people that already know what Tazi and saluki's are about, rather than trying to 'sell' them to people who don't know anything about them. I'm really sorry if I upset anyone but these are not just going to go anyone with enough cash. What do you mean cash I th
  7. You may not have seen them, but have not you felt the the eyes of the wild feline burning a hole in your back as you walk the wood at first light
  8. Judging by the photo of that gleaming black bitch,he knows a thing or two about photography too
  9. I wank turkeys mate always have a free hand When you get a minute baw if you could nip down and give my saluki's a few miles and some beach running, then if you could help me remove this armchair from my arse,if you'd be so kind,as I'm half man half mattress since joining this site, yours in sport
  10. I could'nt give a feck about crazyhorse or the scrawny landlords as long as my pyrex dish is full of game and my dogs are looking good
  11. Just the way it is over here n p,mass scale slaughter and building of unwanted business parks on the green belt is acceptable, but coursing and preservation are not, money talks and poachers course
  12. I once saw beast run and retrieve a fen hare at eight year old, cant remember the names of the cream coloured pups out of him but they were good looking strong animals, they were on a video where they were also running the whites on the heather, good classy dog beast, dont remember ever seeing him run in any organised comps though
  13. This is what I use...simple and very effective...used this for 2 seasons... And if I lose it, which I will do one day...it'll cost pennies to replace and take 30 seconds to make... IMG_0782.JPG IMG_0790.JPG I'm guessing by the look of your lead you work your dogs, but what us keyboard coursers like is a big shiny leather with brass fittings look the part matching collar and lead set for when we are mincing around the country shows, anyway how is the rosette collection coming on
  14. Think it could be something to do with the dvd's,when a dog is coursing on small land and you see the fence posts, trees or whatever whizzing by you get a sense of speed, but a lot of the runs on the fens just look slower as it's such open land, maybe if you are standing on a fen with the hurricane winds blowing in your face it is different, but for someone like me watching from the armchair it can look a lot more relaxed, watched a greyhound coursing on the fens on dvd recently and that looked slow aswell, looked like he was never going to get to the hare
  15. different comp now a days pre ban the dogs earned the right to run not going through on byes and all that carry on best dog from the clubs ran in the comp not like now if you got the £££ your in Yea but unless these dogmen in these clubs gave up over night, there must still be good dogs out there and the guys just aren't interested in the comp. no matter if you buy your way in, the best dog should win. Which brings me to the point I've always made. Even in the forleys height, there were good dogs and dogmen weren't interested in it so its never really been a completion that if you won it yo

  17. One classy bitch that I think deserves a mention is Hammy's Nancy ,the champion that never was from 1997,not trying to take anything away from J T's sniper, but in my own personal opinion,I preferred Nancy's running style and intensity, the course where she picked the hare up just before it got into that wood, then casually trotted away with the hare in her mouth was superb,as T H put it ,it's one hell of a run
  18. I'd end up with half the local wino population invading my garden for a free drink if I did that Slugs would beat them to it,but if it's that rough where you are a yeast and water mix will do the same job
  19. Horrible b*****d stuff the barbed wire, nearly disembowled one of my old bitches,my mates terrier ran in front of her just as she was about to jump the last fence at the end of a good trip out, wish it could be banned and replaced with black/hawthorn hedging etc, increase wildlife habitat at the same time, look on the bright side though, plenty of time for the young fella to heal and be fit again for the season atb mate
  20. Put a few containers full of cheap supermarket lager,or better still the sediment from homebrew buckets (this can be watered down if you need a large amount)the next day they will be filled to the brim with dead slugs proper little vandal pish heads that they are

  23. I leave food down 24/7 mate as of yet, they eat 3 large pans of Alpha Puppy Feed which is good scran,29% protein,16% oil..plus to that I mix an equal amount of Chudleys Greyhound Crunch..(dry meat) and its 55% protein..I don't even soak it lol..plus they get raw scran lol..the b*****ds can eat..they always carry a good back in them...as they get older I will reduce their feed to once or twice per day but for now I will just keep firing it in lol..they need it with the mileage they get haha.. 55% protein ffs no wonder they are so well grown,if the old knees dont hold up you'll be able to sa
