  5. There must be any amount of dogs without any saluki blood in them that can catch 3 hares, but when it comes to catching high numbers of hares that are run regular, well the fen videos say it all
  6. Come on,speak up Fish head there is still time to redeem yourself
  7. Learn all the trade secrets on this site, the only way to train a dog to kill a hare was to tie a live rat to the dogs leg, this only worked pre ban, come on the plummer disciples
  8. I used to run a first cross as a coursing dog,she was 23tts and mad keen, always made sure she was very fit,and she could stay on a bit
  9. Cheers for that socks,it is a scary thing to see,was just glad I had some idea of what to do,there is a nature reserve near where I live, last year as I went through on my bike, there was a load of people on a field running a dog relay racing event it was a red hot summers day, unbelievable!
  10. It's warmed right up just since yesterday like a mini heatwave up here hope we are going to get a decent summer this year
  11. I use sulphur in the dogs water, like I say the weather has warmed up very suddenly, and yes the dog will be staying at home, other than the back garden he's going nowhere in the car while the warm weather is here, atleast not until late in the day .....cheers
  12. I was out walking yesterday afternoon with my two dogs, the weather warmed right up,and I gave the dogs a lot of time in the water, and in shaded woodland, when I got home my older dog could'nt stand up,so I lifted him up,his heart rate was very high, and his nose was hot,he also had a darker than usual coloured tongue,he lost the use of his legs,at first I thought he may have eaten some poison,or was having a fit or a heart attack,it was feckin scary for me aswell as the dog,I lay him on the grass, and poured cold water on the insides of his back and front legs, after about ten minutes he was sick
  13. Looking good captain,do you think they will be fit by september
  14. Keep an eye on her when out walking, then crouch behind some trees/cover,when she looks up and cannot see you wait a few seconds then give her a shout,if they get the deaf head on that's it,just one of the saluki traits we have to live with, just got to be patient, and let them come to you
  15. Someone's gonna be having some fun next season and very well done with the bitch, what a transformation, all the best to you !
  16. Too bad a lot of the other so called dog men don't share your sentiments, well put J.DOG
  17. Fair enough your dogs are looking good on it, but why add more protein with meat, when you are feeding 28% protein. I received info on feeding gain from the rep, for my working whippet, who said to feed Gain 28% on its own. if adding raw meat which i was planning, to feed Gain 20% with a supplement. Could try keeping a sack of both 20 and 28%,I do this with the red mills and make a mix,of varying amounts depending on how much exercise/work the dogs have had, also feed meat, carcass, tins of fish etc, dogs look ok on it
  18. The good jacko, the bad jacko,so where is the ugly jacko?,and what is his saluki called ?

  20. Like the idea of a homemade catty,I've done a bit of stickmaking using hazel, what tree would you say produces the best wood for catty making ?
  21. My mate once lost a dog that had taken a liking to chewing the greenery,it was Ivy that caused her death, some poisonous plants to watch out for-,black and white bryony, buttercup, hemlock, deadly nightshade, meadow saffron and henbane, maybe unlikely that you will have any of these in your garden, but for anyone living in a rural setting with a garden backing onto a stream or similar you never know
  22. The king of the poachers,by John connel and The hunting gene by Robin page, are a couple of good ones from the past
