  1. I wonder just how many nets there are around the country just lying around? Mr Goodcat
  2. Well done chap, nice to see . Mr Goodcat.
  3. I'm the same chap, a proper hoarder of timber and building materials! First class job mate, well done. Mr Goodcat
  4. I do exactly the same and always found this method works well, when the weather is poor and there's not much of a chance of it drying I let the chemicals work there magic for a while then give it a rinse. Mr Goodcat
  5. Hello all, I was wondering if anyone bought ferrets from around the Exmoor area (near Bampton) in the time period between two and five ish years ago and if they use this forum? The reason I ask is around the time of me thinning down my number of ferrets which was brought on by an extreme lack of time due to various reasons also my family and I had a move planned and unfortunately the out side space was going to be a lot smaller so the aviary/court couldn't be used so a hutch as large as I could fit in was needed which meant a reduction. A long time after the move life was good in
  6. Nice one Chap!! , I often get the same feeling on some nights and it is good to sometimes just have a random trip out just for the fun of it. Mr Goodcat.
  7. I have come across bonded nylon quite a bit before but I'v never made any net's from it, I will interested to hear if anyone has though. Mr Goodcat.
  8. Nice one mate, looks like a fine bit of kit! As has already been said they work fine, I make/made nets for a mate and with hedge/stop nets he always request these types of pins because they keep the cost of the completed net down. A downside is the net can slip off the pin the wrong way but if a bit of extra care it's fine. I think the putting the post up especially with the photo will make it a lot easier for people to have more net's without having to fork out for metal end pins. Good post mate. Mr Goodcat.
  9. That seems to be the problem with the tinternet, advice is freely available, but, the advice given is only applicable to the giver. Every person is different what some people like others hate. That is not to say that both their ways are right or wrong. The only way you will find out what suits you is trying something new. As Mr Goodcats states try it, you might like it, and the weight issue is no problem to yourself. The best advice I could give anyone regarding long netting is, if you have an idea, run with it. I have over the years tried many an idea that has not worked as I wished. But,
  10. A long time ago I tried the same idea out on a twenty-five yard quickset net with 150% and another one with 200% (I think they were both 4z) and the idea stayed as an experiment. I had the same result as Tiercel did, it performed well but there was so much netting there it did collect everything from the floor and the weight was very noticeable even in a basket in comparison with the normally rigged net's of the same size. The net with 150% was the better one as the 200% net was far to extreme for me, but worth trying all the same. But have a go at it if you fancy it, you may get on w
  11. Thanks I think I've decided to go with 100%, thought that I would rather have a bit shorter net but a net that is going to catch well rather than a really long net that doesn't catch good numbers. Cheers Dan Good decision mate!Mr Goodcat.
  12. Hi Dan, personally I wouldn't go down to 50% for a longnet in my opinion it's not worth it. But a long time ago I made a single strand net from 20/9 spun poly mainly to use on golf courses and I got to % and decided as I set mine low combined with the small diameter of the twine and the not huge numbers I would be catching I gave it a few trials. I was quite surprised with how well it performed, but I would really recommend going for the 100% mark. But it's your choice and good luck with whatever you decided to do. Mr Goodcat.
  13. Hi chap, you will not be disappointed with the twine at all. Mr Goodcat.
  14. Admit it Ya really want one!! there really popular down your way.. lol. Your right mate they are very popular down my end... I'm the main supplier! Mr Goodcat
  15. That's a lovely looking pink net netrigger, it's nice when the net maker's personality comes through in the finish product . Mr Goodcat .
  16. Hi Shamo, if you do need to take your girls out of season with a seedless hob feel free to give me a shout chIm. I'm also in Devon. Mr Goodcat
  17. Hi pmatty, I really wouldn't bother with the z nylon mate, if your going to take the time to construct a long net you may as well use one of the spun twines. Me personally, I hate loading a needle or two at a time whilst making the net. I tend to load about six or more at a time in one go to get it out of the way and I roughly know how much netting I get from a needle. Like I said that's just one of the this things I do and whatever way you choose, good luck and stick with it. Mr Good cat.
