That look's really handy Smithie. Mr Goodcat.

I wouldn't recommend it, painfully slow. I do make my own pins mate out of mild and stainless, there not always perfectly circular but they do a good enough job for me . Mr Goodcat. It's a pitch for toddlers mate and i think it's tapered as well,, just to add to the confusion. Thank you for that Mr Wilkes . I get on with that type of net really well but when its saturated you can really feel the difference compared to a lighter single stranded one. Cheers. Mr Goodcat. I find it tough getting time to knit one net let alone two. I've got a nice little machine coming to

Happy new year all! I thought i would show the two most recent nets i have made, they were finished off a few weeks ago but my computer had a STD which prevented me from putting them up with the pics, but after a trip to the computer doctor all is well now. The net's are constructed from 20/15 and 20/09 (double stranded) spun polyester, the 20/09 was made for someone after he had a look at the one i own and it's making and deadline was agreed during a rather heavy cider session . This is the first time i have made two longnets at the same time and to be honest it will probably be the

It's a little bit vintage but this may jog your memory mate . Mr Goodcat.

Hi Seanc, This might sound a touch weird but is that terrier called Rudey (I may be totally wrong ) and a long time ago did you own a couple of jills called Itchy and Scratchy?? Mr Goodcat.

Hi Karnie, I'm really hoping to take the ferts out during my time off (if it lasts lol), if I can get a chance to get out although it's looking rather slim and if you don't mind traveling down between the moor's feel free to send me a pm mate. Mr Goodcat.

To you to Vin and to everyone on thl. Mr Goodcat.

I know a few people who use bodkins but I just use sack needle's for splicing, I agree with what you say about them sometimes being a bit of a bugger and if I'm honest using a bodkin would be quicker but the time aspect for me is not that important and I might be stuck in my ways... Just a little bit. Good post. Mr Goodcat.

Well done mate, looks good. Mr Goodcat.

If you could put a picture up when it's working I would be interested to see it. Mr Goodcat.

Sounds like I'm cursed or fooked with the colour;-). Mr Goodcat.

Very interesting hearing everyone's opinion's, thoughts and experience's regarding black net's. With my personal experiences with the colour black I had a 40 yard spun nylon net which when it was used at night on it's own and/or along side other's even of the same material would never perform very well at all, it just seemed no matter where or how the net was set at night it just wouldn't work for me. The net was taken on by someone I had been out with a few time's who was made aware of my thought's about it, unfortunately I haven't spoken to him for a fair while now so how he got on with it

Black's not the best colour to use in my experience. What dye are you planning to use and what weight is the net you are planning to dye? Mr Goodcat.

Looks nice chap. I think I had some samples from the same seller on ebay a while ago, I would be interested to see how it performs. Mr Goodcat.

Nice post and pics, I'm sure it will help a lot of people out. I do mine in a similar way but I use a steel rod jig (approximately 500mm x 300mm) for the whole thing apart the mesh sizes I use a normal gauge. But I do like your idea using a rod to gauge the distance, I might think about trying it out. Cheers. Mr Goodcat.
-
Sorry chap I think you may have got the wrong end of the stick, when I said numerous rows of meshes I was referring to the selvedge but from your previous post to PK you have answered my question. Looks like i share my loathing for patching net's with no one. All the best. Mr Goodcat.

patching nets is a great way to spend a sunday in the garden= brilliant eerm TC i can see a problem with that net at the bottom! Patching up a chewed up net's is one thing I cannot stand, if you were a little nearer I could quite happily keep you in work chap! ;-) Mr Goodcat.
-
Nice one Tiercel! I don't throw much away either. Just out of interest which do you prefer the least patching the net or adding numerous rows of meshes? Mr Goodcat.
-
Well done for giving it a crack mate. Mr Goodcat.

Fair play Buster! I'm glad your getting on with your net's mate. Keep up the good work chap! Mr Goodcat.
