Shame the same couldn't be done with some people!

I think we're getting away from the point here. Someone tried to do a good thing, see if he could get a home for a dog. As someone said earlier they're is a massive issue with these types of dogs getting dumped. However I think they're are worse fates for these dogs than ending up in a pound and being PTS, as heartbreaking as it is. Its the inbred eejits that get these dogs/breed them that need a good shake!

Dunno about micro ferrets, I work jills and other half refers to them as 'weasels' so they might be similiar lol. I've kept ferrets for years and I've kept them in chinchilla/indoor cages and in a hutch. If you are having male ferrets in the house you defo want them neutered yes as no matter how clean you keep them they will still have that musky smell. My ferrets are pets as well as workers, mine have names, and if they're buggering about down a rabbit hole and i whistle on them they come out, anyway I digress. Your ferrets will either work or not. I mean its in them instinctu

Miroku is a good gun. Don't get too hung up on cartridges with loads and shot size, not that they don't matter but what you've bought is fine for what you want it for. 32gram is quite a heavy load though, won't do gun any harm but you might feel it on your should after a bit lol. For general mooching about that i do, walked up I use 5 or 6's, 24 or 28gram load. But then I've seen me out with heavier loads or 7's depending on what I have left in the cupboard! Enjoy your new gun.

Sorry that I missed this, glad it went well -
Ridgelines are great coats until you move. I have one that I use for picking up and on flank but no good for beating in, you are boil in the bag!

Depends on the dog, different dogs mature at different rates. If you think its playing about with its food/not hungry then reduce food. If it drops weight/condition then up its grub. I find that dogs need their food reduced and increased from maybe 6-10months or so when they are having growth spurts then plateauing again.

Sorry to hear your sad news. I've had both hobs and jills over the years and the ferrets in general, once they become ill go downhill rapidly. All the best.

Sorry just read the bit that said 'only bitches on shoot', in that case of course it would be fine. But then what happens if you turn up and there is a dog that no-one knew about. Apols for jumping gun on first reply

In my opinion very bad manners to work a bitch in season at a shoot as it causes massive hassle to anyone trying to work a dog. Plus what happens if your in season bitch is 'caught' by a dog at shoot, you'd only have yourself to blame? Complete no no, I've seen people sent home from a shoot for turning up with an inseason bitch.

As above depends on where you live, time of year, how many other requests they've had etc etc. No news is good news in a way. To put your mind at rest I would just contact your local Firearms lot, you'll get number from police website or local police station.

Hi, I've just moved down near Penrith and am looking for work with my dogs. Had places to go up in Borders but now a bit far to travel. Been beating for 18yrs, picking up for 8yrs. Happy to muck in where needed, etc. My dogs range in age from cocker at 14months to lab at 8yrs. 4 hard hunting but steady dogs in total. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Jenny

Can Any Body Tell Me What This Is?
jennym replied to seany's topic in Countryside Skills, Craft & DIY
It goes behind the horse, the centre hook goes onto the carriage/implement and the two hooks on other size are for the traces that join onto the collar/breastplate that the horse pushes into. I have driving ponies lol
