  2. Tried a few boots over the years i've got a pair of 'Altberg' at the moment, most comfortable and best by far. Martin
  3. Very good article on pages 34 & 35 in this issue of BASC magazine chaps, covering trapping, how to set fox snares and the law. Martin
  4. Another option would be to purchase a dust stick and a tub of ficam, you'll only have to do this once (the ficam should last you ages) then you can sort out any nests on your property yourself over the years. By the way Stubbs this chap is about four hours from me lol thanks anyway Martin
  5. For what its worth i'm far more interested in Hannah than this 'JBS' bloke
  6. Can i just ask did you apply for a 17HMR and on what grounds did he refuse you, why did he grant you FAC air and a rimfire instead? I'm just curious to know. ATB Martin
  7. Tracey look out for a CZ, good quality cheap rifle and blisteringly accurate. Martin
  8. If you DO decide to take it on as a job dont be frightened of asking for the right money, also, very often people feel they're getting good service if they're paying for something rather than just feeding someones hobby. Years ago i was asked to clear a large warehouse of pigeons, i had no idea what to charge so i rang some major companies to get quotes, Rentokil wanted £1200 (yes thats one thousand two hundred pounds) to put two men on site for two hours Now i'm not saying everyone can charge that they can because they're a major player but it just gives you some idea, HTH Martin
  9. Ficam w around the affected areas Steve no? Martin
  10. I know Gary and Sammy (MTC) and talked with them at length about the design when they came out (i've got two), they'll be the first to admit the the construction wont light any skies up but they had a particularly good guy head up the glass project which is what counts, as far as i'm concerned optically the scopes are worth far more than you pay (IMO) Hope this helps (N.B. i also own Zeiss and Swarovski) Martin
  11. I bet those ladies from the guild are calling you with no mention of pest control

  13. Give them a ring on 01924 268 445 and they'll send you a schedule of their 2009 courses.
  14. Attended the Killgerm mole course yesterday, it was a great mix of 'formal and informal'. Apart from all the useful information and the legislative stuff it was great to chat to some of the 'old hands' from around the country who were also there. Martin
  15. Thanks for those tips... thing is its a racecourse so a lot of methods i wouldn't be able to use, i once read that pegging wire a couple of inches off the ground would stop ducks from grazing the grass as they cant climb over it.
  16. Many thanks for that much appreciated
  17. Thanks Corneo sounds like its worth a try how exactly would you go about this?
  18. Ok... if it was possible to sub the work out i would have already done so, it isn't, and the decision isn't mine to make. So back to the original thread.. what are the best methods to deter wigeon besides shooting, any help greatly appreciated TIA
  19. The option of getting other people on site is a 'no-go' (i'd already considered it) any other wigeon disrupting methods that anyone knows of
  20. Hello all, what is the best way to deter or unsettle wigeon that have come here for the winter months? They are beginning to land in numbers on a flat grass track around a lake and i've been asked to disuade them, the problem is i cant be there every day so shooting is only an option while i'm actually on site, are there any other tried and trusted methods i could employ? thanks in advance
  21. Personally i'd talk to the caretaker explaining the difficulties involved with snaring and trapping (not a pretty site for teachers and kids if they should happen to see it first) also, as a chap said further up if trapped your still going to have to dispatch it, IMO the most direct humane and simplest way would be to risk assess it, work out your shot (angle of trajectory etc.) bait for a few nights with cat food so you've got it right where you need it to be...then shoot it...in the sack or bag and jobs are good.. (minimum calibre .22 by the way, not sure if you have your FAC) Mar
  22. A brand new boxed with paperwork (and warranty) Swarovski Habicht 2-12 x 50 Z6i £1200 Martin
  23. Bargain alert! The Tasco world class alone has to be double what chaps asking, original japanese optics hard to beat unless you start spending mega bucks. Martin
