Minion, at least you`re honest mate , take a look on the whippet forums , you`ll find lots of good advice on there, away from the 60 rabbit a night lurchers and 8 out of 8 coursing dogs that seem to prevail on the lurcher sites

What made Sooty Sam `special` imho is the fact that Mike saw potential in him after lamping him and working him during the day on fox , and used this potential to create a line of whippets that are very typey keen effective workers. Ring Mike up and ask him yourself if you`re doubtful. I have a copy of SS s ped here somewhere I will scan it in and put it on here to answer the original question

Jeff is absolutely right, anyone who has actually met Mike or spoke to him on the phone would know that he is a true dog man who is passionate about his whippets and their work in the field. Hands up the people who have posted on this thread who have actually met or spoken to Mike, not many I bet

I`ve known Mike for a few years and he is a genuine dog man More genuine than many on here His dogs are bred to do a job and they do just that . Funny how many slag him off , but no-one who owns one of his dogs has a bad word to say about him

if you dont mind your dog shivering and shaking while ferreting These don`t shiver mate, if you get a whippet bred from proper working lines they`re more than a match for any small lurcher as a rabbiting dog Both bitches from Sooty Sam lines This black dog definitely doesn`t shiver either, they`ll work all day all weathers with stamina to spare

Stolen from back of 4x4 in Epping whippet bitch - colour eighty % white with black muzzle and black around eyes . 2 fawn patches either side . The bitch is also microchipped . Hi Frank, I`ve got a litter of whippets due end of Aug . Sire is Pennymeadow BlackJack , dam is Tess my old bitch. The pups won`t be registered as Tess doesn`t have any papers, so they`ll be cheaper than a KC registered pup.If you`re interested I can send you some pics etc. Both parents are good workers. Tess was excellent on rabbit and hares until she smashed her wrist up a couple of years ago Cheers, Nigel

i agree with you luke 100%, at the end of the day if your dog does his best for you you cant ask for much more, jake " lord of the knights" son celt the whippet dog i have at the moment will (pre ban) run a fox like its his last but when he get bitten he will let go, but no matter how many times he gets bitten he will always run the next fox like his first.i know it sounds like im making excuses for him but for what he lacks on fox he makes up for on rabbits, very few rabbits get a chance to get 5 yards from the burrow, 9 times out of ten he will tip toe on top of the warren following the acti -
Good find that Frank and a great course , some more good stuff on the page as well. I thought the Galgo was a strain of lurcher/longdog though, not a pure greyhound, might be wrong though sure some well informed individual will let us know
