  1. aye up hw97, it says on your profile you live in gods country well the last time I looked at a map Liverpool was not in Yorkshire
  2. second that villaman, and are very accurate and they don't half hit with a thwack
  3. as the lads say forget the lightning , get yourself a hw 95 , say sod the budget get one and don't tell the wife you won't regret it
  4. that looks well tidy that mate , great work now i want one
  5. definitely a lightning that mate , great to see you know what you are doing ,many years ago I caught a friend trying to compress a main spring in with a large flat head screwdriver then it flew out and nearly took his face off , I pissed myself laughing at the time but looking back it could of ended up all horribly wrong . atb shergar
  6. if it has a really short barrel , 10" long then I think it's a lightning , mine does not have the name stamped on just on the barrel bsa and the calibre .22 serviced mine a very long time ago and can't remember if I removed the scope rail but if you think it's stopping the removal of the piston then take it off. trying compressing a new spring in can be dangerous if you don't know what your doing like whiterabbit says take it to a gunsmith if in any doubt
  7. sounds like a seal has gone , did you buy the gun new or second hand if new take it back to the shop
  8. my longest shot on a rabbit is 85yrds head shot and the pellet went straight through it so the power and accuracy is there so you still need to think about backstops I just find it safer to use there's less retained energy compared to a rimmy, on my ( posh garden permissions ) where I need the extra range but the rim fire is too much, some of the lawns I shoot bunnies off are over 100yrds x 50yrds and there's hardly any cover for me to hide in my fac air works a treat it's safer , makes much less noise and probably more accurate, but if I go shooting on my farm land permissions I go straight f
  9. aye up like the lads say extra range and stopping power especially in the larger calibres like .25 also if you go for pcp get yourself a large dive bottle as they are very hungry on air ,it's surprising how quick you get through it. great on permissions where the rimmy is unsuitable .
  10. cz all the way , very accurate and won't let you down
  11. aye up go for the 95k I would get the one with the muzzle weight rather than the silencer ,slightly better balanced it shoots lovely and very accurate also a bit lighter if your using it for hunting over the 97 , put a hawke 4x12x50 ao ir scope on top and you are sorted and well under 400 sheets . as rez says you won't regret it shergar
  12. you can get a brand new hw 95 for £265 , great little rifle just depends on your budget , personally I would skint myself don't tell the wife and get one
  13. have you tried the air arms moderator you can get one with the male thread should screw straight in without an adaptor .
  14. what about the s510 , same as the 410 but has the side lever and shrouded barrel ,I have one very nice to shoot very accurate not pellet fussy and is quiet put a moderator on and is nearly silent , one down side is unlike the hw100 it's possible to double load .
  15. aye up take a look on the air arms owners forum and in the fac section there's some good info . fac air rifles are great on my permissions where a rim fire rifle is unsuitable and I need the extra range and stopping power . go down the second had route like I did , look on gun trader web sites if you go for pcp fac air get yourself 12L dive bottle as there very hungry on air you will be surprised how quickly you can empty one. shergar
  16. I own one of the old lightnings had it about 17 years , it's ok not brilliant , I have shot one of the new se ones and there f###ing shite the recoil is unacceptable they smash stock bolts and scopes there not fit for purpose , just my opinion ignore all advice about the bsa and get yourself a hw you won't regret it shergar
  17. I would go for the s410 you won't see any difference in accuracy between that and the ultra just think the air arms is better made and more reliable , my friend has an ultra se and has had a few problems with seals , air gauge and magazine indexing , it's been back to the shop a few times and it's only 18 month old . go for a multi shot and get a single shot adaptor for hft then if you want to go hunting you have a 10 shot mag shergar
  18. you might have an idea there
  19. found a field near me about 300yrds long I roughly counted 150 rabbit's they have nailed the grass right down out to 30yrds from the hedge on the whole length of the field , only problem is that it's directly on a public footpath ( oh bugger )
  20. hw 100 is about the best you can get , if you want to service yourself get a AA s410 there a piece of piss to work on , if I had the brass I would have both
  21. I agree give the bsa springer's a miss because there shite especially the lightning get yourself a hw 95 but I would get it in 177 , like secretagentmole says redbeck air rifles will see you right great set of lads that give good honest advice .
  22. will probably try them , how accurate they were was my first concern and the length of the pellet and weather they would be too long to cycle in the mag, have tried bisley magnums but they don't group very well , using jsb exact heavy 18g at the moment and getting good results just fancied a bit more stopping power . cheers shergar
