Rob 58 rang the other day needed a fox or two and I’ve seen a couple around the chicken pen so set up the bait and string with a pheasant as bait ! shot the first one at 5:10am , second one at 6:am and the third at 6:02 am ....don’t know what you old boys are messing about with ..? And you look closely at the window frame you can see why I never had four ..?

They soon learn FD , for the first couple of years on one of my places they weren’t bothered by vehicles or quads in the least , the only time I can use the quad now is at the end of a session otherwise they are gone ! Even two fields away if the hear the quad there gone to wood .. That looks a decent muntjac mate ..

The first twenty years of my shooting life I can’t think I ever see a chocolate lab , it’s only in the last fifteen years or so they have become popular , in that time I’ve never seen one I would consider worth feeding , they all seem heavy in body and shorter in leg and come up well short in the work department . Compare that to the other minority colour , the red labs and it’s the reverse , I’ve seen several stunning dogs over the last few years in both confirmation and ability . Last day on the Shoot I help out on see eighteen of us out , light covering of snow but bright and cold . Pushed in some of the far flung corners and some of the lesser drives which produced plenty of birds , and did a couple of the main drives the wrong way round which produced some stunning birds for a lucky few and then finished with a drive of a bank that never gets shot because of access problems , the keeper invited the landowner to shoot the drive which solved that problem and every one had a superb drive ...finished on just over 400 ..

The fact he could catch the thing tells me it was injured , shot with a captive bolt by the look of it , left for the foxes ..could have been a bit more discreet but what are the options ? Try to restrain it , transport it , take it to a vet where deer very seldom do well . Gralloch it , and take the meat ! That would go down a storm ! As much as I don’t like or trust the arse pca the only thing he could have done different was be a little more discreet and taken the carcass away ..He did the best thing for the animal by putting it out of its misery without thinking about selling t

Lots of goldies at the minute , nothing unusual to see fifteen plus on and under the feeders , lots of long tailed , coal , great and blue tits , nut hatches and greater spotted woodpeckers.. hardly seen any chaffinches or green finches this year seems like they are struggling at the moment .. these from earlier , top pic is a great tit with a white tail , yellowhammer and the goldies . Not very good pictures but I took them with the iPad through my binoculars...

I’m fairly sure they have the gortex liner , Never really noticed how long they take to dry Francie given I might wear them three or four days on the trot ..even if there wet outside there dry where it counts inside .. As for Vaseline and a hairdryer, I’ll pass on that mate ...?

Not put anything on them mate , I’ll wash them of in the morning and let them dry naturally and that’s it ..all the other boots I’ve had I’ve put every protection known to man on , cost a fortune and did nothing to stop them leaking , at the price of these had they lasted a year I’d have been chuffed , two years in I’m on a winner ..

Bought these a couple of seasons ago , Haix ex army of eBay , £32 .before these it was harkila , chameau etc , all around the two hundred quid mark and lucky to get a couple of seasons out of them before they leak ..these haix are a different league .. Just got home from a very wet beaters day , feet are dry as a bone .. Think the girl that sells them on eBay is Kelly Brown ...

I’d hate to think how many I’ve done over the last fifteen years ..?edited to say my best is five in one night which I’ve done several times .. -
I tried telling that to someone else who bought a cross breed , she was having none of it , by her reckoning both dogs were pedigree , that ment so was hers , in the end I gave it up as a waste of good oxygen !

Shot these three this morning from the bedroom window ! They have been mooching around the chicken pen last couple of days , thought I’d better get pro active ..the string goes to a bait , the other end is tied to a wooden spoon that clatters against the frame , it wakes my wife up , she wakes me , charlie gets it ! -
Woman down our track just paid £900 for a cocker/poodle dog , bitches were a £1000 but both were already sold ..worlds gone fcuking mad ..
