  6. Cold easterly wind, same stalking partner, same small permisson.Out this evening with my old mate he was going to the same seat where he shot a doe last friday , i was going to the same seat i had been in. As we split up he took the newly cut firebreak down and right through the wood to the bottom left hand corner , i carried on to come out top right of the paddock,as i glassed the wood on the oposite side tucked in the bottom left hand corner several deer milled around just on the wood edge,a couple of prickets layed almost invisable against the wood. There was no shot,no backstop but the wood
  7. Well done , good luck & good shooting..!............

  12. +1 My 1st was on 60acres, you should have no problem ,might be an idea to go .243 for fox it then gives you options on deer if you want to go down that route. just a thought .good luck
  13. If you dont get the !st bit right the shot dos'nt happen, getting close enough to take a sensible shot is deffinatly the best bit ,cant think how many times in 30 years i've got up on deer and decided not to shoot for some reason or another.
  14. Excellent .Well done ,there nothing as good as stalking up on them & getting a profesional finish ,good post .
  15. one or two mate,......! mainly fallow ,but a few roe i've not got that many so only knock over the really poor stuff.Get the odd munty on one place , the owners dont want them 1st or last so any that get seen get shot. Shame , i would'nt mind a few about but thats the condition on the stalking on this bit .
  16. Having sat up last night (sat) and blanked at a small piece of land where i do the deer & fox , i decided to sit up tonight at a farm on the kent/sussex border were Hutchey had his 1st deer a couple of weeks ago, about 400acres,mainly grass, with 60 acres of woodland ,it is surrounded by woodland on 3 sides ,undulating its as safe a place to shoot a rifle as you could want. I gave my old mate a call ,What you doing later ? where we going was his reply, a foggy ,frosty morning gave way to a glorious day,we were drinking coffee at my place at 2.45 and pulling into the farm 45 min later.
  17. Hog hunting for me would be the 308 route, if i had to spend a lot of time at it to make a dent in the population so be it !!! bet there's a few old boys on here would gladly give up there free time to go hog shooting ...

  20. I have a couple of these seats & phill is right about the rest, i cured this by putting a 6in board across the front ,fixed with the dreaded cable ties, screwed a 6in upstand to this , and put 22mm pipe insullation on the top edge, the seats are cheap & you only get what you pay for .I have various other seats the best i.ve got are the jaeger ones ,galvanised, these are the dogs bo..ocks,but are top money ,i would expect to get 3or 4 years out of the cheap ones ,anything over that i'l be pleased.
