  1. I agree here dealer. I've been at this game only 11 years now, and I expect that there's a lot I am yet to see. The season starts for me here next week, and I will see if the dog I have can continue on his journey to be retired at 8 or 9 like his mother and grandfather. He's a stronger/bigger dog, so maybe he'll make 10? Cheers pal.
  2. fat man, you could never of said some thing that I disagree with so much ! I will explain it in away that some new lads to the sport will understand, as those in the game for many a year will understand what I am saying.. most people think " ALI" was the greatest fighter of all time, but for those that have only seen his last few fights would disagree. dogs and humans peak at a certain age, you cant improve up to your last year of your life, as you age. a lot of what you have done in the past will catch up with you, as it is with dogs and humans. over the years I have seen a few dogs in t

  4. This "trustworthy with kids" stuff amazes me. If it can't be trusted, then it should be DEAD. No ifs, butts or maybes. I grew up with terriers, bulls and running dogs, and it didn't matter what the dog was, what it cost, how it was bred, or how old, if the old man had a question about it, it was GONE, and I follow the same line now.
  5. Finally, facts amd common sense Linebreeding brings to the surface 2 traits....the good ones and the bad ones. It cant create something that wasnt already there to start with. The reason that conservationists avoid linebreeding is to avoid gene bottlenecking. This is bad because if a new virus/disease enters the wild population, and everything is closely related, then the chance of having genes that are resistant to the new disease are greatly reduced. Its a numbers game.
  6. Anyone at all????????? some help would be greatly appreciated
  7. Trying to get in contact for EDRD renewal. The email I have for Harcombe keeps returnung and telling me "user unknown". Has he changed his email since last year? Cheers Ozzy
  8. I did a triple-bred mating a few years ago. The Sire is a good small dog (we like them small in this part of the world), and his daughter (1st mating) is almost as good. did the father/daughter mating and kept a bitch that i was happy with, and put her back to her father/grandfather. 3 pups were born. 1 tiny little bitch, 1 bitch that looked like its grandmother, and a dog that matured out to 5 pound heavier than the parents and is far stronger than anything from that line. He is only 2 and a half, but is working well for the person who has him. The 2 bitches werent any good. Father/Gran
  9. They are nasty little feckers. I dont think there would be much of a terrier left
  10. Good to see another Aussie. Seems to be more on here every day. Where abouts in Vic are ya?
  11. i prefer a fresh tail/dried skin, but if your willing to give one up, then it wont hurt. I would only let him have it when your playing with him, as i dont think swallowing some of the tanned stuff is a good idea.
  12. Kate, the mini foxy is a little Australian farm dog that has been around for over a hundred years. Its never recieved formal recognition because its not a miniature of the Fox Terrier. The Australian mini foxy club changed the breeds name to Tenterfield Terrier so it could be officially ANKC recognised. But most people still call them mini foxies. It looks alot like the american Rat Terrier. And yes, they do work to ground. HG, take your time with him. Mine usually dont start checking dens until 14-16 months old. Give him lots of tails/dried skins, and take him for walks through the
  13. Depends on the dog and its background. I've seen pure shite, and rippers that were pure. and I've seen X-bred shite, and gooduns of them too. just because its pure, dont mean its better than a mongrel.
