This is a topic that i have had many a discussion with being a forrester, the general public do not see or understand the damage deer can do no matter what you try to tell them, not just to woodland crops ie sitka spruce norway fir ect, but to native woodlands ie oak, alder, birch ect, that if a regulated cull of deer would keep the numbers and health of the animals at a premium and the enviroment ticking over nicely, plus the regular supply of very tasty meat and a knock on affect of ensuring employment in the countryside, it seems very simple to me why can't the general public see sence it r -
Now that i am semi retired i am free to help out and prepare for the 2013 shooting season, i have just moved to skelton in cleveland and wondered if anyone knows of any shoots that require a regular beater and all round helper in or around my area, i am quite willing to use my years of forestry to assist in any way possible, many thanks

I have always been a beliver of living off the land, nature can give us so much of what we need and for free, you just have to open your eyes and learn, i still tend to use bartering with local farmers and land owners for game if i am to busy to hunt, having an abundance of logs always helps, every year i make my own wine and elderberry is my all time favourite i end up with countless bottles of wine to drink and swap with also.

Hello everyone my name is Russ i have been a forrester for 35yrs and spent all my life working in the countryside, i enjoy all forms of country sports more so now that i am semi retired, you have to bear with me as i am not really computer savvy !!!! i did'nt really have much use for one in the woods !, so if i make some typing errors you will have to forgive me, i hope to get to know a few of you as i like to go to local shows and point to point meets, all the best to you all for the new year Russ
