Whats Happened To Friend Buster??
A1WOC replied to Tron's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Now that’s strange! Being a member of several forums, I found THL posts a very interesting, and regular mix of different related subjects, very helpful, informative and not monopolised by know it all and stand off regular contributors. Without the fear of being ridiculed, even lesser knowledgeable newbie’s questions are answered in a respectful way. Some of the banter exchanged may at times be flamed, but it soon cools down. Just my humble opinion. Regards, Steve -
Question For Air Arms Tx200Hc Owners.
A1WOC posted a topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
The manual for my new .22 AA TX200HC recommends Air Arm Diablo Hunter (pointed head) pellets, my local shop only stock AA Field (round head) pellets and they supplied a free tin with the sale, so beggars cant be choosers! While the rifle is still bedding in I thought it better to use up the tin before trying any alternative pellets, and also sensible to ask what other .22 TX owners use and if the TX200HC is pellet fussy? Regards, Steve -
Hi Robbie, The moderator was taken off one of my other rifles. I'm unsure how much it was originally, if I had to guess it was about £40 and I bought it from Solware, Tamworth. Regards, Steve

After picking up my new AA TX200HC yesterday, I only had time to fit the MTC Mamba and do a little plinking and take a chronograph reading. After setting the chrono for 16 grains (AA Field) the first reading was 10.22; subsequent readings varied, increasing to 10.54 when I decided to give up. I guess it needs to bed in and settle down before a stabilised reading is taken. Today I put out a few paper targets and set about getting used to handling the rifle and zeroing the scope. After chasing the zero around due to my inconsistent hold on the forestock; as I have only used PCPs and rim fir

Choice now made; I bought a .22 TX200HC along with a Mamba 4x16x50 scope. I put the salesman through it though. I tried several scopes but decided the MTC was the one; I had him mount the scope clear of the breach so I could check the eye relief before finally making the purchase. At a later date I am going to try my MTC Connect on my new AA TX, I know MTC don’t recommend using them on a springer because of the very close eye relief, but the recoil is so light I think I will get away with it. Thanks to everyone for their advice in helping me make the final selection. Thanks to y

Thanks for that Simon, I would be perfectly happy without an additional moderator fitted in the field, but I need to hone my skills with a springer before venturing out hunting. The reason I want to keep it as silent as possible is so I don’t annoy one of my neighbours while I am shooting in my back garden. I had a snide comment off one of them early last year while shooting my old Webley springer; since then I have only used my quiet PCP’s so as not to draw unwanted attention. I must admit I am leaning towards the TX200HC; dare I say it! It looked better finished off than the 97K; even thoug

After searching for a new springer I have narrowed it down to two models in.22 calibre, a 97K or a TX200HC. The final deciding factor is going to be which model is the quietist? Off the shelf both are similar, but the TX200HC may be fitted with a moderator in addition to the shrouded barrel. Has anyone here encountered a TX200HC with the optional moderator, and is it a worthwhile modification? Regards, Steve

Some time back a friend told me he shot and killed a Canada goose with a sub 12ftlb air rifle, I was a little unsure if he was stretching the truth a little at the time. Your photographic evidence and written account of your walk around the fields make me a little guilty for doubting my mate. Nice rifle, nice dogs, nice descriptive account of your walk. Regards, Steve

I had a similar problem too; it was caused by the thread inside the moderator being a loose fit on the end of the barrel thread and throwing it out of alignment. I cured it by wrapping PTFE tape around the barrel threads, enough to take up the slack without being over tight to screw the moderator back on. This cured the problem for me. Two highly respected bits of kit there. Many air gunners aspire to own such quality gear as your mate is selling. Check out the new price of both items, if the asking price is reasonable and you can afford it – go for it, you won’t go wrong. Don’t forget to budget for an air pump or compressed air cylinder and valve though! Regards, Steve

Nice rifle you have there, I have a Brocock Super 6 too. Zini on here has recently done two reviews on a Super 6; one demonstrating target accuracy and one for hunting proficiency. It’s compelling viewing for anyone who owns a Super 6. In answer to your question; Jack Pike do a self adhesive cammo tape you can wrap around your moderator and any other part of your rifle too. If you want to wrap the full length of your barrel its best done with the stock removed. Regards, Steve

Spring Rifle Group And Target Shooting With Si Pittaway.
A1WOC replied to zini's topic in General Airgun Discussion
You’re so modest Si; quote “quality, quality rifle” summarising in the film clip, with no mention to the skill of the man behind the gun. Regards, Steve -
Thanks Si. Reply via SMS Text

A couple of weeks have passed; the first opportunity I’ve had to sit by my bedroom window at the crack of dawn was rewarded. A crow perched at the top of my neighbour’s tree was humanely dispatched before I had the chance to make a brew. I could get used to this, unfortunately the corvids are getting wise, and although there is an abundance of them around my neighbourhood, sightings within shooting distance are less frequent. You’re certainly putting it through its paces Si! I’m looking forward to the video footage. Regards, Steve -
It has to be the Bull Barrel Contour!

Nice one Si; glad the Brocock meets with your approval. Regards, Steve

Nice one; I love Milton Keynes too. I spent the last two summers shooting (with camera) the diverse birdlife along the river Great Ouse. Regards, Steve

On the subject of no safety catch on the Brocock; guess who found out the hard way? Yes it was number one Muppet....ME! I managed to shoot myself in the foot while out ratting at night in a cow shed. It was pitch black, I had the bolt open and the magazine located in readiness, I accidentally bumped into a stall in the dark, and off it went. The pellet penetrated through two thicknesses of boot leather and embedded itself in my foot. OUCH! Regards, Steve

Who knows what meat we eat? When I was in the Far East; if it was protein and didn’t taste like s*** we ate it. Horse meat would have been a luxury. I once ate at a roadside vendor in Thailand and I suspected it was dog meat; we have it good here in the UK! Regards, Steve
