  1. I had a little problem with my 97 a couple of days ago. The cocking arm was loose in the retaining catch and I didn’t have to depress the end button to release it, also the pellet POI had also changed and I couldn’t achieve my normal grouping size. I thought at first the cocking arm retaining catch spring was faulty, but on close examination I found it fine. I did notice the spring loaded ball bearing at the end of the cocking arm wasn’t located deep enough in the catch to hold the arm secure. I couldn’t find any means of adjusting it, so I released the grub screw retaining the silencer, tappe
  2. Hi Darryl, The new Walther LGV could be what you’re looking for. When I tried one in my local RFD it was super smooth and very quiet too. I was tempted but opted for the 97kt because it was a lot shorter in length. Regards, Steve
  3. "accuracy with ease at one squeeze" Love the one line rhyme Davy. Regards’ Steve.
  4. Nice one Si, I never rated Accupell before but my 97 loves them, the AA Field come a close second; a reversal of you new 97 pellet preference. Regards, Steve.
  5. I just love the banter on this forum, it’s better than watching TV. Regards, Steve
  6. Hi Bernie, Both rifles handle well, perform well and are very accurate, but they are different calibres. The TX is .22 and performed very well from new, but it is very pellet fussy, a fettle and re-grease made it easier to cock with a smoother firing cycle, but after bedding in, it increased in power far too much because I went overboard with the grease. After a second strip down and lighter greasing the power is just right for me at an average 562fps (11.22flb) and is nice and smooth and accurate; when I fit the aftermarket moderator it is very quiet too. The 97kt is .177 and was a little
  7. Hi Si, I didn’t want to hijack the thread you started regarding your rifle exchange with Mawders; but in response to your question to me on that thread “How you getting on with yours buddy? You still happy with the results your getting?” I thought it fitting to reply separately. Just over twelve months ago I bought my first air rifle for many years, it was a Webley Exocet. I couldn’t get on with the weight and recoil so I took it back to the shop and exchanged it for a PCP. How simple and easy to shoot accurately I thought at the time, I will never have need for, nor shoot a spring rifle
  8. Nice one Si, how long before you stain the stock to match your .22 HW97? Regards, Steve
  9. While I was practicing in the garden with my TX, I saw the farmer’s nephew walking the adjacent field to tend the sheep. I made my rifle safe and put it down to wait for him to pass before I would resume shooting. My wife used the opportunity created by my safety break, to collect a barrow full of compost from the top of the garden to use in the greenhouse. I walked up the garden with my wife, and at the same time the farmer’s lad walked towards our garden wall and rested his arms on the top in wait for my wife and me to arrive. Although I frequently see the lad in the field at the back of my
  10. Hawke Chairgun Pro provides the information you seek. Download free from http://www.deben.com/hawke.html Regards, Steve.
  11. Hi Darryl, With your excellent strip down and rebuild video, and Davy’s spring coil removal video; lots of Prosport and TX owners will be inspired to carry out DIY fettling on their rifles. The hands on tutorials illustrate far more than text book instruction could ever get across. Regards, Steve
  12. hi Steve its hardly expert knowledge,i have spoke to several people who fettle,Andyfr1968,Wurz, with there help and actually seeing it done by John a trained gunsmith.it gave me the confidence to take on this task! so it just goes to show if you do your home work, you can achieve most fettle's next challenge is a lathe,i have one lined up and for a good price i just have to convince her indoors that it is definitely needed,as well as the arc welder Hi Davy, Whenever my wife complains about me spending money; I remind her that I don’t smoke, don’t drink (excessively that is) do
  13. Good on you Davy to share your expert knowledge with us. Tutorials like yours help and also inspire confidence for the novice to carry out work themselves. Regards, Steve.
  14. Lots of people on here aspire to be as good as Zini; he is one of the best ambassadors for our sport, and modest with it. I have only been shooting spring rifles for a short period and now prefer them to a PCP. Stick with it and don’t despair, with lots of practice and a good rifle like your Prosport, you too will improve to a point that you wouldn’t have thought possible. I talk from experience, as my grouping has tightened up considerably by following the basic techniques required for accurate springer shooting. Regards, Steve
  15. Cracking review as usual, the smiles say it all. All the best. Regards, Steve
  16. I’m back on course again after the weekend adjustment and a further 200 pellets through the barrel. Ragged one hole groups at 25m (10mm edge to edge) with a ten shot string and averaging 564ft/s (11.3ft/lb) on the bench chronograph. Happy to have it sorted thanks to advice on here. Thanks and regards, Steve.
  17. If you are running windows you may already have a program to change the image size. Click start - all programs - accessories – paint This runs the paint program. Click the icon on the menu bar to open the dropdown options, click open and find the image you want to use, once it is open on view click the properties in the same dropdown menu you used to find the open image, this will open a box to view the image properties, adjust to suit, click OK and then save with a different name to the original image. I hope this works for you. Regards, Steve
  18. Hi Si, Far exceeds my expectations, it’s a pleasure to shoot and my groups are becoming tighter. I put around a hundred pellets through it yesterday, and at the same time, I used my new bench chrono. The initial power creep has slowed down and the ft/s spread is narrowing. All in all, I’m chuffed to bits; it’s now my favourite rifle. Every opportunity I get, I’m on the range practicing. Regards, Steve
  19. Hi Phil, No, it hasn't gone back to SFS, the power is creeping up though, but still legal. Si has offered to have Davy remove a spring coil, and film it at the same time, with the intension of putting it on VHTV. I am keeping a close eye on it at the moment, and will contact Si accordingly. Regards, Steve
  20. It shouldn’t present a problem not cleaning between pellet changes. I recently tried seven different pellets to test what the barrel preferred; all I did was fire off five of the new pellets off target before firing at the target to form a group on each of the different pellets. Regards, Steve
  21. Sorry Skot, I wasn’t having a dig at you; the emoticon was for me putting too much grease on the piston, when I did it a few weeks ago. Regards, Steve.
  22. was there a lot of grease in front of the seal then?? Yes, and I can take the blame.
  23. Just stripped it down, cleaned out the compression tube and grease that had migrated forward of the piston seal, and re-assembled. No smell, no smoke and a substantial drop in power. I must admit it had I worried, when it was chronoed earlier it measured an average 584 ft/s (12.12ftlb) with 16g pellets over a 20 shot string. It now measures 495ft/s; plenty of scope to bed in again without being excessively high. Thanks for your help. Regards, Steve
  24. Thanks Phil and you too Darryl. I’m going to strip it down tonight and give it a thorough clean, and reassemble paying particular attention to where I grease. Regards, Steve
  25. My .22 TX200 is running very smooth; however, since I fettled and re-greasing a few weeks ago, I have been getting a whiff of oil when I open the breech to insert a pellet. Today I have also noticed a little smoke coming from the breech when opened up after firing, and also a 10% increase in ft/ps on the chrono. Being new to springers, I guess this is a mild form of dieseling. As I have only put around 300 pellets through it since the re-grease, I wondered if it would bed in with a few more pellets, or should I strip it down and be a little more sparing with the grease? Regards, Steve
