  1. OK, there was me thinking I had upset somone, me never Thanks for the comments on my Dogs, I'm not as hard core as some of the boys on here, would not pretend to be, but I know the dogs I like and they are Borders. Hope I have not started a cross border dispute, us English have a habit of doing that. !! Cheers Smudge
  2. Oh dear more puppies .......... Not sure what this is about. But just to confirm all my Borders are from Devon.
  3. What get up my arse-hole is the general rule appears to be knock the Border, just because it's a Border. People know naff-all about my dogs working ability, they give 100% what ever they do, I could not ask more than that. In regards of ££££ look no further than the costs for Staff / English Bulls and the like, diluted the breed for cash, don't see many knocking these. Rant over, off down the pub for a Lesbian tea.
  4. Hunt Borders, nothing special, no real names but years of selective breeding from the boys down in Devon.
  5. Bryan, Yep, I understand the Queens English reasonably well, it could be better. Sadly the British Army is / was not all that up on teaching English so I probably missed out on some lessons, busy keeping me legs attached to my arse and head on my shoulders. Anyway take your point, get a little bit twitchy about the digs aimed at Borders.
  6. My wifes lab appears to hate with a passion my new pup, it's back goes up and it is obvious that given a chance it's going to do it some harm. Never that way before but this time it really does seem to dislike this pup. They are in seperate kennels but will have the run of the garden and the livery yard, what can I do. ? Apart from the obvious, keep them apart. Cheers
  7. FECKING COMEDIAN :11: I was thinking before I checked the posts, it's been a while since there was a dig at the Border, thanks to you I know that there are still tits out there. I thank you. !!
  8. Took my 8 week Border for her jabs last night, the last time I went the course was £35, this time it was £57 fecking rip-off. Made the stupid mistake and did not ask until she had the jab, felt my knees go. I asked the vet ( who happens to be FRENCH ) what age can I have my dog jabbed against leptospirosis, she informed me that this practice did not do this, and why would I want the dog injected for such a thing. I informed the surrender monkey that we had a livery yard which by chance had rats.!! I am currently searching for a new vets. !!! What is the best age to have my
  9. Counted over 200 rabbits in our neighbours field Sunday night, it's about 4 acres in total. He's anti hunt and a member of the anti cruel sports mob. Been told to piss-off a number of times when out with my Borders and gun. The thing is that last year in this field you would be lucky to see half a dozen rabbits. Not sure why they have moved in in such numbers this year, nothing appears to have changed in the ajoining fields.
  10. Thanks lads, comments appreciated. I was toying with getting two, but the other arf would have minced me nuts for sure. She's good like that. :headshot:: I will post a few pic's as she gets older.
  11. Pal, My Borders breath and that of all my Borders I have had never stank, what you feeding. ! This is new to me
  12. Picked up a new Border pup on Friday from Devon. From good hard working parents ( with a KC ). Called her Tess. Also a pic of my other Border Spike, 14 months. Has a brain and not slow in coming forward. Thought I give all you anti Border lads a chance to take the rise.
  13. Well give the kennel a good scrub down, replace bedding, Just finished, cleaned it out, srubbed in down with hibiscrub.
  14. A pal checked over my border this afternoon and said my dog looks like it has ring worm, took it of to the vets and £107 latter still not 100% sure, scrappings sent off will not know for 2 weeks. In the mean time, other than maslseb shampo and Rilexine tablets and a flea and mite drops ( to collect Monday ) what can I do, my Borders share a kennel. ANY help or advice is very welcome.
  15. 1. Rugby, playing and watching. 2. Real Ale 3. Digging up WW.II bombers in Europe 4. Dirty women
  16. Gents, I appreciate all your comments, at the end of the day all I want to do is be left alone with my terriers and ferts and just do what I enjoy, I don't go around mugging, stealing and being a 100% complete **** like alot of arseholes around here. In my job I encounter aggressive scum every fecking day, I don't need it from the boys in blue on a fecking Sunday. It's these fecking knobs that got my goat more than the ramblers.
  17. My written permission was in the car, I have had permission to work this land for over four years and only once in that time been asked to produce it, and that was by the Game Keeper, I have two written permissions in fact one for pest control and the other to shoot vermin. I know that is the same thing, but the owner wanted it this way. I did not want to walk back to the car, I'm lazy fat git not that I have anything to hide, it's taxed, insurened and road worthy unlike most of the fecking poles and eastern european feckers cars. So in a nut shell, I can be called a murdering small m
  18. While out yesterday afternoon ferreting with my terriers, I was approached by a group of 5 people out rambling, in a nut shell they gave me some abuse about what I was doing and told me that I was a murdering arshole and should be locked-up. I told them basically to piss off. Well within half hour I had the local police turn up, these "specials" told me to pack-up and I quote " feck-off" or they will charge me with verbal assualt.!!!! I told them I had permission and was doing nothing illegal, and explained that if it was the ramblers who called them all I told them was to piss-off and mind t
  19. Cheers! Missed you on here for the 6 Nations Smudger mate, where were you? No need for that. !!! been eating humble pie. Went to see England against the Baa Baas the other weekend, Alf's try was the final blow.! Me thinks England need more than Martin Johnson. Anyway back to you boyo's, you are by a country mile the best team in the northern hemisphere, god thats hard to say. :tongue4: PS : Where the Haggies Bashers
  20. Well done the Taffs, the best game of rugby I have watched in a long while, the Paddy's too, blinding game lads, as far as us English go, I think we have a long ways yet, but well done boys. The home nations may not have won, but we did our countries and our people proud. I salute you all..
  21. Sorry to hear of your loss, your never loose the memories.
  22. I have a Border and a JR and use them when ferting, both are great at what they do, they lack the pace of the Whippets etc but can and do the busines.
  23. Can anyone tell me a method of removing ticks other than Frontline and other off the shelf sprays etc, is there a "Home-Grown" method, a old ferretter I know tells me he uses a dab on whiskey !! Not sure about that. Any ideas.
  24. It appears to me that the "take it to the vet" response is all to often used, I work my ferts and terriers all year round and if I was to take them to the vets every time they appear ill I would be pot-less. Walking in the door is £25 before the vet even looks at the animal. From experience here in Hampshire, most vets know SFA about ferts, mine freely admits to disliking them. The last time a jill of mine was ill and a trip to the vets was needed it cost me over £60 and it fecking died a week latter, not again. ! Their health & welfare is paramount, it just means that I'm a practical.
  25. Thanks for all your comments, before I went out with my terriers this morning I checked on her, sadly she was dead. I have cleaned out the court and box and will leave it a week or so. The rear end of the fert was in a real mess, yellow discard and I think a spot of blood, a real shame as she was a hard working jill, and always happy to be handled. Smudge
