  1. A tranny coming out of the bushes with a fella..........never seen a bolt as quick as they made when they saw me hahahahahahah
  2. Tubing, boxes, balls , half a brick to keep its nails down......just stuff he can play around with and change it around so it dont get bored. As you just got the one i would quarterise a rabbit and give it a bit at a time ....no point chucking a whole one in......plus you got more chance of it stashing bits and it will soon draw flies and go off. I gut mine first but leave the liver and kidneys for the stinkers they love em.
  3. Worked mine yesterday and he came home as clean as he went out......a few added bits of fur on him but thats a bonus. And some og the land i was working was boggy as feck on the foot. And my hob aint too small neither i was actually expecting him to come out totally smothered.
  4. Feed it water it...handle it lots......up to you if dry food or fresh meat. Whats it been fed on before you got it? Nice home for him plenty of things to keep it occupied and regulary cleaned out. And make sure it knows how to gut and skin rabbits or it aint a hunter :boogy: :boogy:
  5. Left his ferret at home and just took the collar :shok: :boogy:
  6. when i had mine i alway took thenm out......no point getting a big electric bill......
  7. Aye, unfortunately cant have dogs in my rented house....ferrets aint seen here hidden away in the shed . Plus i wouldnt have a clue about which dog to choose or training it for rabbiting
  8. Aye and the fella says he'll cotact the landowners that back onto him too, so i can ferret there too :boogy: Nice old fella, he told me he has a couple of lads that do ferret it ....twice a year and thats it......only one hedgrow each time they visit .....he said he was nearly fecked last year with the rabbits eating the grass for the cows to graze o and the maize crops were nearly destroyed completely.......i was happy to see him and i think he was happy to see me.
  9. Should do it ok ......just pull it up slowly.
  10. So the weather looked a bit overcast this morning, but loaded the car anyways and headed off to my permission. Got up there and the fields were really wet and boggy so decided to do a bit on the walls they normally hold a few. Done a 5 holer and sent in the stinker ................nothing. Ok not too worry, got to the next set and only a 5 holer too, netted it up and nothing. Not disheartened head into the woods where theres a few small set to have a go on. The next 3 i got nothing :icon_eek: So headed to a bank in the woods onto the neighboring land and set up 12 nets here, very act

  15. Well i was raised in the highlands of scotland and me uncle was a local poacher....mainly rabbit and the old salmon. He'd be making his snares and bringng home huge salmon which me grandad would cut and share with the family. Ive always loved being in the woods and out and about, then got myself an old air rifle of me uncle and plinked away in the wood at the back of my house. Then he started taking me to check the snares and we'd bring back a load of rabbits and he'd hang them in his shed then share em out with the family.......was great. Ever since then i was hooked.......got into ferret
  16. A smack round the ear for being so fecking smart :cray: :D
  17. 9.....but 4 got away so i'll say 5 in the bag .....good luck.
  18. Dont know if any other lads have noticed the difference in a hobs coat when its been castrated to a vasectomised hob but ithink there coats are a lot healhier looking and they certainly smell a lot better. Used to take one of my hobs around in my poachers pouch when i was younger ....he was castrated........never even knew he was there, and nor did the landlord of my local :boogy: . Got another one who was real friendly took him to the pub befre he got castrated and the woman on the next table caught a whiff of him .........made my excuses and left
  19. It is more than likely dominance as i said first off......but if its like that now whats he gonna be like when he's all testosteroned up and wanting to rag for real.......the other hob wil probably end up seriously hurt or even worse. Would be gutted if mine killed its housemate ......if it can be prevented then it should be.
  20. Yes Tomos that is for both castration and vasectomy.......Ive never had a hob vasectomised i always get castration.....keeps the smell down and i find (personal opinion) that they are less aggressive. its alot easier for castration as they take the nuts away but for a vasectomy they have to find the small tubes that lead to the balls which is not easy and a lot of vets wont or cant do this and the ones that do take it on ,don't always get it right and i know been there done it True .....person
  21. Get yourself some ballast delivered a couple of tons and some cement bags and hire a mixer for a day or two and knock the stuff up yourself. For what you pay in slabs and a base for the slabs to go on your going to be quids in by DIY

  24. Can be done from 5 months but recommended about 7-8 months ......no problem getting him done now. If in doubt just ring your vets.........but they are done as early as 5 months and i normaly have any hob done at 11-12 months with no complications at all.
