  1. Temting but no idea about using a dog for hunting....my permo is owned by a good breeder over here so no shortage of supply....the dogs in the pics are some of his pups. But im in rented acomm too and i work a lot so not fair on the dog.
  2. The samll fella hocking the rabbits for me...his first time ...with his new little knife lol
  3. Not one for hunting this early but the owner of my permo rang and asked if i could just hit a bank as the rabbits are driving the pups nuts....and the barking was doing his head in. So packed up my hob and the kids and headed up there. A fair few seen on the way up to the set and good size to them too. Got to the bank and i know that its split in two as far as the burrows go o started at the top end and got 3 bolted straight away ...two slipped the nets as i was dealing with one and the kids aint copped on yet to grab a bunny....bit scared when they hear the squeeling. Well my hob worked o
  4. If your down Cork city way anytime you can come on my permo's and give it a bash if you like. Always handy with some of my permos to have two heads
  5. Bloody well keep it over the pond....aint seen any round here since i been here....8yrs
  6. Well im like yourself never used a finder in the past. Till i got given a mk1 and gone from there. Highly recommended bit of kit and saves a lot of hassle trying to locate a stinker by calling. Especially if like you say your doing long hedgerows there invaluable bit of kit. Plenty on offer on ebay the mk3 i have now is damned fine piece of kit when you get the hang of using it.
  7. If my permo is anything to go by which was fairly tame last year for rabbits, this year is going to see some good bags at the end of the day. The place is heaving with them
  8. Tried it a while back but mine doidnt take too it. I use totally ferret and it goes down well.
  9. Few of you know that my Jill got killed by a cat recently. Well Andrew Bierne sent me a message and offered me one of his kits from his litter. Well i went up to his place yesterday and picked her up. Only a young lad too but got a good little set-up and well kept stinkers. And the price he wanted was a pittance too. Good to see the younger generation taking on the hunting game and not trying to screw people out of money and credit where credit is due i cant falt the fella, 9 week old kit and in really good heath and a lively one. And heres a turn up for the books........i brought it h
  10. When i started my first few nets, they ended up smaller than i thought they were. Some are just a bit too small to hold an adult rabbit properly and they can slip the net. But i learnt from my mistake. I start at 10,10,12,12,13,13,14,15,15,15,15,15,15,15,14,13,13,12,12,10,10,..................gives plenty of room
  11. Jesus, getting moist just thinking about getting out there and doing a bit.......cant fecking wait
  12. did you get many with your 4 finger high setting? Aye plenty........used it mainly on the entrance to the burrows. If on hedgreows maybe slightly higher depending on the ground. As for it being crap .....well opinions vary
  13. What the fook is a rabbit pen? I feel daft asking this but I have never heard of people paying to go in with a pen of rabbits, can someone enlighten me? Found out of Google, not sure how I have never heard of it but it still sounds weird to me to keep wild rabbits in an enclosed space to train dogs with, I didn't know that was legal but you learn something new all the time I suppose. So so glad i wasnt the only fecker.......but wasnt going to ask ....waited for someone else.
  14. Aye four fingers is about right. Not into snares anymore although have done lots in the past.
  15. When i was young...i had 9 inches and 1 wrinkle, now im older i have 9 wrinkles and one inch !!!!!

    1. low plains drifter

      low plains drifter

No place for shar-pei breeders on here squire lol

    2. walshie
  16. A pound......flipping heck over the pond here the average price for a stinker is around €20-40......................good business if your in it for money, not my choice to breed them, never have and doubt i ever will.
  17. Only ever bought one ferret from a pet place in the uk and he was one of my best workers. I mostly get stinkers off oter hunters that hve bred them. But my opinion only is that i dont follow the rule about blood lines or anything like that......iif a ferret is taken out regulary to work they know what to do. And then they just do it naturally. My hob goes out and grafts, proper hunting talent him. But ive had rescue ferrets and theyve worked just as well and probably never seen a rabbit till they were in the burrow and met one face on ..........and then chased the fecker out into my purse nets
  18. They were both down the side of my compost heap and i couldnt actually see the pair of them till i got into the bushes next to them .....think the Tom cat has been using the bush as his sleeping bed ...the ground is well comoacted where its been used regulary and its out of site. All it takes is one bite in the right place and an animal can be gone. Going to invest in some plants that the cats hate and getting loan of a feral trap too. Humanely done and wont be shitting and coming in m garden anymore. May even get a thank you from the neighbor for saving him money bloody cat food.
  19. Mk 3 all the way ......once you get the hang of it its a godsend and highly accurate at finding your stinker underground. Used the mk1 and good bit of kit but wouldnt go back now gven the choice.
  20. .Try some minced beef mate. They are natural meat eaters and in there own time will eat the same as the mother. there teeth are made for meat or you could add some water to soften the buscuit or dried foods 5 weeks normally or around there.
  21. Well had words with my neighbor. Wreckons im over- reacting about the amount of cats he brings to the neghborhood and that i shouldnt be keeping errets if i dont like shit in my garden........in other words i shouldnt be worried about a bit of cat shite in my garden and that cats are natural hunters and the cat was acting on instinct towards my stinker. Not even so much as a fecking apology. Now he's a senior citizen so couldnt knock the daylights out of him.....but i have told him i will be making a cat trap as in his words "there strays" and i will be removing them from the area and f**k
