Be fair max ,the mans credentials are impeccable ,he started the season as manager of real Madrid Ffs ,he is very highly regarded as a manager by former clubs and former players and more importantly by fans of his former clubs ,a decent man too ,non of the self promotion you get in some managers ,if Ashley let's him get on with it there are good times ahead for the Toon

Benitez is a bit of control freak ,they must of met all his demands re transfer policy ,transfer funds ,academy ,youth policy etc for him to stay ,he will give them direction as a team ,he will attract players above championship level and I fully expect them to be top six in three or four years ,with maybe some silver ware a bit sooner .

A bit early for predictions ,summer transfers can make or break a teams season ,but I would expect Chelsea ,man UTC , man city and Liverpool all to do a lot better in the league next season ,at the other end safc are a certainty for relegation ,even if they are English footballs comatose giants

Some of the man utd teams that have won the title in the past have played breathtaking football ,a joy for even someone like me who hates them ,to watch ,Arsenal title winning teams have took the game to new levels ,,who remembers the Chelsea title winning teams? Yawn ,the man even made Real Madrid boring to watch ,he may win a title at utd ,but they will sacrifice any exciting football in the process ,the man is nothing more than a BFS for rich clubs .

I have just read a book about a boxer in the twenties who I have never previously heard of ,Nipper Pat Daly,what an eye opener ! Started boxing professionaly at 9 (nine ) years of age ,boxing 15 round fights ( sometimes twice a week ) at 14 fought top opposition ,grown men,top of the bill at 15 ,forced to diet to make flyweight and then bantam weight limits ( doesn't even bear thinking about what that would of done to a young growing lad )when it was suggested his trainer / manager should rest him ,he was taken to a boxing booth on the assumption a change is as good as a rest!!!
