Some great books mentioned here ,I have read and enjoyed many of them ,one of my favourites is ..Memoirs of a hunter ,by Fredrick Remmler , I would highly recommend it -

First thing I do when I visit one of those little country villages , walk around the churchyard ,then a couple of pints and a natter with some locals in the pub , waste of time going somewhere if your not interested in the place and the people Imo
