Up until maybe the 90 s you could always get a game of chess in the pubs around us ,there was a real mix of abilities ,and at the time I loved it ,tried really hard to improve and learn ,but I was always considered the "special needs case " and got a bit fed up hearing platitudes like "wow you nearly had me that time "or "maybe have a few games with Hughie to build your confidence "..Hughie was blind btw . Different times .

Not a big fan myself ,especially when a bus full of japs with cameras stops suddenly at a place one of them once bought sweets or stroked a dog or something ..Little known fact ..my brother in law once butted George .

They are all from South Liverpool ,John and Paul were Woolton ,Allerton ,areas although Paul lived in speke at one point ,George was from Speke and Ringo was from the South end (toxteth) ,,John and Paul had a suburban ,semi posh type of accent Ringo being more inner city had a harder accent than the others

They do seem to get a pass from some of the media over booing the national anthem ,I don't know if it's an anti establishment thing or something else but I wish they would stop it ,it's boring childish and imo disrespectful .

Mine came back mostly Irish ,a big chunk of Scottish ,and 10% Welsh ,which was a surprise and a smidgen of Viking ,...the ancestry thing is so interesting ,I wasn't expecting royalty or anything but the phrases "penal servitude " .. " habitual criminal " crop up with depressing regularity ,I even found a great great grandma who got sent to Australia and did 21 years in Darlinghurst prison in Sydney .

A really hard fight for me to pick a winner ,you can only go to the well so many times and Usyk is coming to that stage of his career when you start guessing when father time will come knocking ,but even an 80% Usyk will take Dubois where he doesn't want to go ,and if there is any quit in him he's fighting a man who's style will find it ,having said that my tenner is going on Dubois early .

This may be a bit long winded but I thought I'd get my say in now so I don't have to get into arguments later ,in an ideal world the new season would start with some shows of respect ,the family would be left alone to mourn in peace ,and a good player would be remembered fondly by fans of the club's he played for ..in the real world a very tiny but very vocal minority will kick up a song and dance about every perceived lack of sack cloth and ashes ,every social media post that isn't sufficiently reverential, the main stream media will stoke the fire by treating Liverpool like a poor oppressed

I like the pub analogy youngster ,and I agree ,but imagine going to the pub and there is someone on the next table you find boring and repetitive ,he's not talking to you ,he's not harming you in any way ,he's probably a decent fella ,it would be rude to tell him you think he's boring ,and he's got a perfect right to air his views ,,,but you can hear him it irks you and you wish there was a mute button so you could enjoy the pub without hearing him ,,well on here there is .

I have blocked a few on here ,but I can't remember how I did it ,I think I pressed on those three buttons at the top and followed the options . Edited to add ,if it's a long thread your following then someone invariably quotes whoever you've blocked so it makes it a bit of a waste of time anyway

Youve sort of hit the nail on the head mate , "technically about perfect " .He hasn't got an exceptional ko punch ,he isn't gifted with superhuman speed or reflexes ,he is pure boxing ,he is so far ahead of some "legends " that it's almost a different sport .

Just heard he has retired ,which is probably the right thing ,but FFS I have enjoyed watching him ,in my own humble opinion the best I have ever seen ,and by a long way . I wish him luck in his retirement.
