    Agree. Of course I'd only give some general idea of the breed. And that idea comes from the those lines which (sort of) dominate here. There are some limitations for which then have greatly affected GJT-population . Bushing/driving (or whatever it is called) is prohibited using dogs over 28cm in shoulder-height. Legislators have apparently thought of giving animals a chance (terrain is tough, and added is snow during winter-time) would then make working-irish, GJT's.     Agree on colouring. Personally I do not give too much weight on colours, Only now with my GJT's are FCI. Which then complicates things, as all of us know. Patts/fells are not FCI and so no hindrance there. Basically what you are saying is that Patterdale Terrier is within Fell Terrier-type? As are Lakeland T, Plummer T(?) etc? And so the length of coat is no issue here. These small black/chocolate/bronze terriers with either harsh or smooth coat are Patts? = J =

    Oh and the size? That's dependent of breeding/pairing. So not general issue.

    Hi. Although GJT functions as a multipurpose-dog, I'd say that their main-purpose is working underground. I have 2. Both working wee bit differently. Bitch is trying to get the prey out to me and male attacks head on. And I don't agree w Dan. They do not kill (unless you talk about some smaller prey) fox-sized prey...     Hi all. New here so exsqueesh me the baffle... Fell terrier or Patterdale? Same breed? Not same? If so, why? In Finland there's a patterdale-club, patterdate-breeders etc... Nice looking creatures, so no worries there. Although similar dogs actually seem to be described as patterdales and then on some e-page they're mentioned as fell terriers. Is it dependent of colour or gameness/style/eagerness/hardness (in short; style) or type? Area where it is from? Sorry stupid question.     Agree on all above. Separate. At best bitch-male is ok and even that is not 100%. (I've "Iearned" that some fights more likely to happen if bitch is notably older than male in same box/pen. Maybe older "hags" get irritated by the younger males. Older males just think "that" and so the living is easier, somewhat). Imagined I get this pair (GJT-bitch 6y & GJT-male 1,5y) to work together on bigger/wider caves/holes. But unfortunately the male is way too dominant/possessive of the situation that they start fighting. So: Separate. Get boxes/dog-crates if not possible for separate pens.

    I use Betadine for such. Does not irritate skin or cause any other (allergic) reactions. Of course; parvo, rabies (here yearly vaccinations for u-gound hunting dogs, no rabies in UK?) and such vaccinations are a must.

    Thnx guys. New aqcuisition is Kodak ZX1 videocamera/camera. So as previously anything except some cuts/bruises/vet-bills was the outcome from smallprey-hunting, now in future I may have even some footage/pictures. Will see, tho'. As I'm sort of lazy in any type of filming...

    Hellos All! Been here earlier checking this and that. Mostly EarthDogs etc. Terrier-related things. Very good things and much also new info for me. Very interesting to see/hear how/what people use their dogs in other areas/countries. Figured now that ample time to join "the gang" and give my input on some... My areas of interest related to hunting; - moose/elk; (Alces alces lat.) - raccoondog (Nyctereutes procyonoides), very troublesome newcomer from Russia.
