  1. Ahhhhhhhh, had heard of them but not seen one. Would blocking the hole be an issue? as there are other ways to it from inside. I know it may end with a dig but its not that deep as I followed the fert with the locator after the rabbit bolted and drops to 2ft max. Will try and get a pic of it when I'm back out there over the weekend.
  2. This was the case scenario if I did get them with mixy. I wouldn't keep every one thats infected but unfortunately most in North Devon have it. I wouldn't be feeding them with it regularly. As I said " Have heard of people still eating infected bunnies but wouldn't myself " but also agree with Lapin2008 that after being in the freezer for a few weeks will be Ok.
  3. would it harm you if you ate it? no mate. but depending on how far along the disease is there won't be much meat on the rabbit because it can't eat and wastes away. not a very nice disease. as for taking them home for ferret food i would not advise it . you could be spreading the disease . Rabbits would be gutted/skinned on site and waste burnt. Looked over the web and mixed views all round, but this seems to be the most common.
  4. any pics pal, i got 2 kettler go karts in me shed, never thought a that Here you are, Just made from some off cuts of metal bed frame I had lying round. Like I said I need to replace the ply that was attached to the bottom of the runners (stops snow melting to them). Had to cut the front stubb axles off but one was bent anyway. and can be converted back when the snows gone. Main sledge [/img] front axle fixing [/img] the seat is fixed to a discovery seat runner so fully adjustable.
  5. Silly question but whats the difference between poke and purse nets. As mentioned I'm new to this so all advice is being soaked up like a sponge. .
  6. Took to ferts out last weekend for the first time and missed a hole in a bunch (sodds law that was the one a rabbit bolted from) Unfortunately this hole is right under a wire fence, half one side, half the other and the fence is only a couple of inches off the ground and too tight to move either way. I tried to put a net over once I knew it was there in case another bolted but couldn't decide where to peg the net as the hole is vertical for about 18 inches. Any ideas on how to net it or how would you do it? Don't have a longnet as of yet but will be getting one fairly soon as I ha
  7. Wouldn't worry about your ferts catching it,. as said, it only effects rabbits. Have heard of people still eating infected bunnies but wouldn't myself. Any I do catch will be going to feed the ferts. North Devon was the worst hit place when releast and nearly wiped out the entire population. Their fighting back no though with more numbers being reported every year. HTH Bri
  8. We keep ours indoors. Just started working the 2 jills but the hob isn't old enough yet. Girls live in a cage around 5ft high x 3ft x 2ft and the hob is in an indoor rabbit/guinea pig cage but get let out to play in the front room in the evenings. Obviously there is a smell but not over powering if kept cleaned out, plus it's nice to talk to them when they pop out for 5 mins.
  9. If you like you can send some down to devon. No snow in Barnstaple at all. only had a light sprinkle on thursday night, Not asking for loads though. seems to have just missed us. 3 mile up the road has about 4 inches though. was on a delivery in Holsworthy (mid Devon) which normally gets the snow too but was absolutely clear aswell.

Like to know what I'm doing some of the time lol and dont recon the snow will be a problem as we have none/very little

  11. Saw 5 guys wedged in a dumpy bag yesterday. cant say what its like on fresh snow but was pretty quick on a frequently used field, well compacted which meant it had a smooth layer of ice on the second day they were out
  12. This is the girls, tried for ages to get them to stay still for a photo shoot but didn't want to play by my rules so used a bean can as comparison And our big boy with same said can, Did try to measure them but seemed impossible lol closest I got was the girls are around 10inchs nose to base of tail and big boy jasper is around 13-14 inches nose to base of tail. Cheers Bri Mrs couldnt hold him and the can and he's laying across my forearm.
  13. any pics pal, i got 2 kettler go karts in me shed, never thought a that Will post up tomorrow for you. Not got it at the house at the moment. Thats the one that I modded. Need to replace the 3mm ply on the bottom of the runners though.
  14. Made a set of runners which replace the wheels on the lads go-cart. Goes like stink and very maneuverable with the steering wheel still operational. Also has adjustable seat so usable for all.
  15. Hope you dont mind me asking. How old are they? Both our jills (polecat) from last year are a lot smaller, about the size of a small Squirrel, and 9 months old. But our hob (silver mitt) is a lump, around a kilo I'd guess and 5 months old, but twice the size of the girls. Sorry if this seems a silly question. Their both healthy and full of energy but on the small side. Or have we got some of those micro ones I read about on here? Bri Forgot to say. Great looking jills mate.
  16. Ever thought it could be something to do with the amount of recycled paper nowadays. Was brought up with open fires/Rayburn and never had a problem.
  17. Dont knock a 4x4 for being an auto. I also compete in winch challenges and we use a v8 rangerover classic (traybacked), was a manual but converted to auto as when you need to get up a steep slippery hill your always in the right gear. If you need a gear change up hill in manual you loose some forward momentum where as the auto always keeps the power on.
  18. Glad you had a good day and got the fert back in time ATB Bri
  19. Might have got one in Combe Martin myself if all goes well. Farm has just been sold and the new owner isn't sure yet what rabbits are round but was up for it. Left my number but when I'm passing next I will pop in and check. Looking back on it with all the footprints round there must be a fair few about. landowner did say that they havn't seen them but I've counted 63 ish holes across the top hedgerow and looking at maybe 40 spread out in the trees, and that's only on half of the land. A few weekends out there at 2-3 hours a time should bring on the youngsters well. Still impressed that one ma
  20. took mine out today for the first time. Nervous about the snow at first then realized it wasn't too bad. It was me that call it a day as i wasn't sure how long you could keep them out in it for. Great pics though.
  21. Ha Ha. didn't think of it that way. Should have stayed longer then. Still I'will be back out next weekend so alls good.
  22. Yeah, cheers for the advise. I meant to take some tape with me but it got left in the landy (every landy comes with a roll of gaffer tape) If it should move but doesn't - Hammer If it moves and shouldn't - Gaffer tape
  23. Cheers lads. Hopefully here are some pics Firstly this is part of the permo. Fair sized orchard Quite a few holes but not all showing signs of life. also have about the same size of woodland too. [/img] a few of the holes with busy footprints [/img] [/img] My 2 ferts, first one is Freya and second is Pogo, both sisters and very hard to tell them apart at times. [/img] [/img] Out of interest, How long would any of you have your ferts out on the snow as I was concerned about them getting frostbite on their toes as it was bloody cold.
  24. Well, finally got out with the ferts on a local Cider mill. Woke up much later than wanted so I was glad I got all the kit together last night. Loaded car and headed out with the family in tow (permo is on a friend of my daughters) Got a mile up the road and started getting into the snow that's completely missed the town (few wispy bits in the fields but nothing to worry about) another mile up and its getting thicker. Driving up towards the Mill entrance and was surprised on how much there was. Turned into their lane and had to knock the truck into difflock, its times like this I love the
