Dox, I'm about 4-5mins walk from the ground, my street has parking permits to which I have an extra guest pass. Dead easy to the M62 + M6 also, i'll also tell ya the boozers to best avoid Your more than welcome....... and the kettle's always on

Plenty of posts on here about this subject, type in a search. My 2 golden rules are; It must be FUN for your youngster. Always quit whilst its mad keen (and start up again later). Though type in the search..... Good luck and enjoy

Would agree with you there Oldskool, though 'big strong hunting' greyhounds ain't that common. For me constitution would have to be the overriding factor, good bone and feet. I think it would also be a factor if..... you were adding to, or creating a lurcher, what type of greyhound, if greyhound at all.....? Depending on what you want, the 'right type' of sight hound, would make a difference. I've seen far to many 'un-interested' greyhounds to belive that any would be good for lurcher production and if size wasn't a factor, whippets or whippet/greyhounds IMO are a better bet.

As i said on the coursing thread im not nightime hunting biased, the minshaw strain was the mutts nutts at the nightime game and long may the strain continue, i wish ASD would put together a book refering to his lifetime experiance and exploits with the breed, his photographic evidence is second to none and iv always enjoyed reading his Minshaw threads till people get childish and spoil them. im sure a hardback extensive Minshaw book would be a roaring success. I have to agree. I found his posts very entertaining and informative, I bet ASD could fill a book easily with all his tales...

Bosun, there was two Jocks...that dog of Jack Highams was named after the dog in Fitzpatrick's book, which was written about his dog in the 1880's. It was first published just a few years before that dog above was born so it was name in honour of him. It had nothing to do with Fitzpatricks dog and hence no connection to the book/film. Interesting post Little Butch, though it says Jack Higham was from Chorley, Lancs...... Thats Markbricks old stomping ground (wonder if he knew him?? ) Though if I remember the film right, the Stockman picks Jock from a litter in S.A.....?? As for the film, was wondering if anyone had seen both versions?? As I remember back when Sky first came out, watching a S.A. version that was mostley dubbed, it was a very realistic film with the fight scenes and hunting looking much 'stronger'. I then seen what I thought was this film advertised and bought it, it was a much 'cleaner' Holl

A good read Undisputed Although some find starting pups a pain, I also really enjoy it. Though its always the way, that when out with a youngster plenty of 'stuff' for your mature dog comes crawling out of the woodwork? Oh well, I suppose you'll be seein 'em again soon enough Best of luck

I think basically, its just to much of an emotive subject for 'ol Joe public. A nice glossy cover on a DVD of this game outside a stall at a gamefair or better still, sold on ebay, would certainly attract the 'wrong' interest. I recon many who have produced film for the fieldsport market would fight shy of possibly bringing a whole heap of 'shinola' on top of themselves and hunting in general, if stills were shown centre pages of The News of the World, or footage was shown as a video nasty on some debate programme on TV? Just my thoughts....... but I could be very wrong!!
