  1. A mate of mine had a LabxGrey years back, one hell of an animal, he wrote a few articles in EDRD a few years back under the name Greylab.
  2. The main thing is that your little smiley dog will be back to his usual, 'jump all over me' self soon, nowt more important than that! Never easy parting with such an ammount BUT through your 'planning', to do the right thing (insurance), it'll be with you soon i'm sure. Though, gotta ask, was there a charge for that rain forrest they chopped down for the bill! Importantly, you did your homework choosing and trust your vet and that really does ammount to a whole lot. The dog was saved and as importantly, your family was spared a whole lotta grief... I should know 'eh!!! Looking
  3. Thanks for the posts Barrie, facinating..... Some of the best reading on here
  4. The club is at a bit of a lull at the moment, the secretary has asked me, amongst others, to look out for a new venue (pref in, or around Liverpool) and that is the priority at the mo. As soon as the clubs set up again, i'll post on here with the club night details.
  5. Some wonderful action shots Magwitch, love the line of that ferret under the car too
  6. Gotta love the little dogs with big hearts, some crackin photo's on this thred, keep it going guys
  7. Missed this post first time round SH, did you have any luck finding him and what area did he go missing??
  8. Though you ain't put up what the old fella has in him, the old adage would be, 'if in doubt, mate back to greyhound', that way your always playing safe, though you could use that to a certain extent to any pure running dog.
  9. If that dogs photo was put up without it's breeding i'd have said it had a fair dash of collie in it BUT we shouldn't be too hastey to judge a book by it's cover. I've seen almost broken coated pure greyhounds and owned a genuine first cross collie that you would have swore was a first cross bull, huge powerful beast with an enormous head. It was only that i knew of it's parents that convinced me otherwise. Very dog aggresive (especially with small dogs) this nusance soon seen its arse half way through a good foxing season and jibbed!!! Lovely stamp of dog that, pity, as she's a shade too
  10. Thats a crackin haul on a poor night, well done Tomo and co.
  11. Tried just about every variation on slip leads over the years, from a bit of old rope to them propper coursing toggle things, all are shite, unless your out in company, where restraint is nessasary. Try to teach your dog to work 'off slip' when on its own and the more graft it sees the easier it'll be. Most 'made' slips (factory) like the toggle are great if you plan on one or two slips a night, as getting the feckers back on 'em certainly dampens the spirit when your messing about with it, your mutt's doin cartwheels and a whole field of bunnys is happily heading for home! Nowt wron
  12. There it is.... In it's simplest terms.... Nuff said! Well put Chalks
  13. well said lee, to many people THINK about it , rather than getting out and doing it. i had 40 the other night, in two hours, ok there were two dogs , but Tara could have done them all on her own in the same time. also had 45 with Tara in 2 1/2 hours. had with two dogs 3 1/2 hours. how many times on land that is thik with rabbits , have you put a dozen in the bag in 5 or 6 mins. ile be honest ive done that many many times , and if you havent, WEL get out more Well put Tomo, especially the last bit but boy oh boy you keep biting on these threds, it'll keep coming u
  14. I thought thre was no such thing as old, i mean new, or was that old Nuttall, bred purely from Buck & Breay, with Border blood, i mean bull terrier blood or was it.... Too small or too big or.... Lets start another 15 page debate!!!! Crackin bitch though
  15. For the nearest thing to all round graft, off good sound working parents, 'of pedigree unknown' or Bitza lurchers certainly get my vote Keep this thred going folks, for I have just 'lost' my young girl and though gutted, i do know that its this type i'll be keeping forever more. So show us what you have and tell us tales of their prowess, this could just become a great thred....
  16. They are there in Cheshire, them wild reds do exist, though Darcy's dead right, for the size of the county and such a rural one, it's almost a deer desert in comparison with some. Maybe the Tunnel and bridge have had a hand to play in that . Merseyside does have a few little wild pockets, some very close to home, the poor things are on fecking Valium
  17. why aren't they that popular then ??? its because they are one of the most useless dogs ever created, bred only to be a showdog never a working dog, they are prone to cancers, are often deaf or directionly deaf, suffer with ear problems, lack breathing ability and have very poor eyesight,so yes they will create the ultimate strong lurcherNOT,im not being a no it all ive had bull terriers for many years now yes that is there name not english bull terriers, and they will work with terriers always seem obsessed with holes for some reason,i love these dogs with a passion but as pet guard dogs but i
  18. Who would actually try to get their lurcher to fish... Though I did have a terrier, years back, that would qualify, a good dog to ground he was leggy (and keen) enough to take the odd phesant and would always dive head first into my old mans Koi pond and kill a few of his much loved fish :realmad:
  19. Christ...! Can't belive this shite is still running and members are rising to the bait. Thing is W.E.S.I.E., you didn't answer my question back??? I'll grant you that too many do only keep working breeds to attend and win summer shows without the same dogs ever doing a days graft in their lives, it's a easy win, for those that usually have failed in the KC show ring. Women or men, it matters not. What does matter is what is at the other end of the lead. Shows are there for the hell of it, a chance to enjoy a day out in an overlong summer, meet old and new friends and have a bit of fri
  20. I suppose there could be quite a few possibliltys as to why a 16mth old has stopped striking. It could be that she's had too much, especially if you started her very young, or she has picked up a twinge and is a bit sore. You say she may have been doing too much but at this time of year unless your running her very hard every day, she shouldn't find things too tough. At her age, with all things bodily as they should be, she should be raring to strike, not refusing. I'd get her checked out, try a local Greyhound track for a vet or running dog specialist, when you then know she's physically
  21. Suppose it all depends on what folk class as an allrounder, personally I'd plump for one of those pups Tomo has on, if it's about filling a bag, you won't go wrong there!
