  1. I wish my bitches were biddable and not head strong :L I'm still a strong believer in the breeding of the dog is 1/4 of it and the time you put in is 3/4's regardless of it being a dog or bitch! Marc
  2. Yeh what's been going through my mind gaz, the confidence she shows whilst retrieving from a shot or on a runner is second to none! Ive been back on the training field doing basic blind retrieves and touch wood its going good with plenty praise!! Marc
  3. I've seen many a dog brought out to early and ruined! Let him be a pup and install biddable ness and next season will come round before you know it! Good thought with getting socialised with other dogs though while he's young. All the best with the pup Marc
  4. Cheers stroller, had her out this morning "hid" three partridges and got her going with an easy thrown out retrieve, then sending her out she picked up the three blind retrieves no problem! So birds went in the game bag with a massive fuss made of her then in her kennel so fingers crossed! I have a ppointer who's the same lol every bird is hers!! Marc
  5. My year and half year old labrador has a slight issue which is puzzling me, out shooting shes retrieving woodcock, snipe, rabbit, partridge, pheasant duck the whole lot after seeing it coming down. Whilst beating she hunts and flushes all of the above and in training anything i throw she retrieves!. Now to the burning issue the blind retrieve she will run up to the bird but not retrieve it this can be very frustrating but im not losing patience as shes retrieving and shes young! Any ideas lads to correct this and bring her on? Marc
  6. Just introducing myself my names Marc im 22 and from Scotland. I have two dogs (lab and GWP) and do beating, picking up, rough shooting, ferreting and wild fowling with them and a border terrier who tries to join in but is a dab hand on the mice and rats! I also help feed and help with vermin on estates where I stay and do a bit of part time keepering! I dont have a job in this industry but have all my fingers and toes crossed to hopefully get a job doing what I love! Hopefully get a bit of good crack with lads on this forum with the same out look on the way of life as me! Marc
