  1. I've a pair of Opticron, imagic, 7x42 porro-prisms (i.e. "dog-legged" shape bins) that you can buy new for just under £150. I've also got a pair of Leica Ultravid 8x42 roof-prisms (i.e. straight cans)... that you can't buy new for much less than about £1580. To be honest there's almost nothing between them... I depend on them daily, in all light conditions, at all ranges... for stalking and a variety of property management purposes. If you want the sexiest "best" ones spend your money on Leica, Swarovski, Zeiss or the likes... but if you want good value, good quality, servicable kit... go

  3. Sorry to be a nuisance but.... Has anyone here got a contact email address for Colin (solwaystalker on the S.D.) ? Or is he a member of this site under another screen name, by any chance? If you would prefer to contact me by PM that would be fine. I can either give you my email address to forward to him... or whatever. Any help much appreciated~Tom
  4. I'm rubbish at photos but I'll see what I can manage. The lakie is about 14 months old now, My plummer is a wee bit older. I don't know your name but I'm sure I recognise your screen name.... You've probably got more than just a couple of Plummers... Am I right? Atb~Tom
  5. I was brought up on a farm and we always had terriers. My mum had a dog from an old line of working west highlands when I was a baby but she wasn't into breeding them, then later we had jack russells. Ratting and at mice around the farm and nipping at dairy cows heels, bringing them in at milking time.. old memories for me. Never really saw terriers working to ground until just a few years ago though. We have some lads bring their hounds up here to run them out on the Coulter hills (hard men, run for miles and miles) and the terriermen come with them. Great to see. Great to be part of. I've be

  7. I've got two young terriers at the moment, born last year. One's a broken coated Lakeland bitch, bred in Shotts. The other's a Plummer dog.... an Oakfield one. Two very different terriers and both great fun to own. The Lakie's a proper earthdog type and has some mouth on her. The Plummer is up on size a bit and has a right turn of speed.
  8. Hello there. I'm a 53 year old farm and land manager, soon to be 54. I live in south central scotland. I shoot, stalk and work my dogs and have done this since I was a wee boy. My first shooting was with a borrowed (from an older cousin) Diana .177, at the age of eight. My uncle was a farmer and he gave me a "contract" to control vermin in his potato store and his collie dog helped me with any runners :-D . I've been shooting and stalking, accompanied by some dog, or dogs, or other ever since. Two terriers and a lab at the moment, I've a lot of stalking and foxing ground around my hom
