    You will be hard pressed to get more value for an optic then what Meopta will give you. Take a look at their Optika5 line of rifle scopes. I think you will find exactly what you want and not break the bank. Hard to beat a 3-15x44 for deer hunting. These are all 1 inch tubes and you can bump up to a 30mm tube and more options by looking at the Optika6 line of riflescopes. The Optika6 line adds a little more weight over the 5 Series but offers a lot more options and features over the Optika5 line. Neither will disappoint and I use both lines for hunting and long range shooting.

    Buy from a company known for quality glass and production. Meopta Optika5 Zplus reticle would be perfect for your needs. You can dial in the .243 for accurate drops related to your shooting ballistics. Easy to do with Strelok Pro. The Zplus reticle looks similar to a mildot reticle but in MOA. It will give you aboutr 20 aim points for different distances. For shooting foxes, drop down to a 55 grain bullet (that's what I use for predators) and you can reach out a long way.     You are doing the right thing! That is what I tell folks to do all the time. I try to pas on whatever info you need but bottom line, you have to buy the one that you think is best for your needs.

    As someone who is a bit biased, I would say the PROSTAFF 3-9 with BDC reticle is tough to beat. Best of all it more then fits into your price range. By choosing the BDC reticle you can use Nikon's Spot On Ballistic Program to dial in your rifle,scope and ammo to obtain the greatest possible accuracy. The PROSTAFF has fantastic light transmission for those dark days or early morning late evening shooting. I have even shot hogs with mine under a full moon at 100 yards. Plus, Nikon's outstanding Lifetime warranty is always nice! I hope this info helps?

    I haven't used it but I have looked it over from one end to the other at Shot 2012. I have a friend at hausofguns.com who did a review of the PROSTAFF 3-9 EFR and raves about it. Believe me, not because I hooked him up either, but because it does a great job for it's intended job. He's plannig to put it on a .22 air rilfe when he's done with it on his 22LR. I hope this helps?
