  1. This book is a good read if your interested in WW1 http://www.amazon.co.uk/They-Called-Passchendaele-Battle-Fought/dp/0140165096
  2. Could you please explain what "fully reconditioned and serviced" actually entails?? i may be interested in getting all my MK1 boxes done.
  3. Do you have a link for a supplier for them grommets Bud, I couldnt find anything near suitable.. unless your buying 2000+ its not worth it as you'll pay 40p each if you want some let me know and i'll sort you out these were made to fit 9.5mm-10mm poles they wont fit the 12mm magnums.
  4. castration rings are made from latex, latex bio-degrades in UV light. even grommets made from natural rubber will bio-degrade. we've all used cycle inner tubes at one time along with many other things we could lay our hands on. i opted for UV resistant PVC grommets for my nets for a few purposes, they dont rot, and being PVC they are slightly harder than soft natural rubber and do not twist so they slide up and down the poles easier for height adjustment.
  5. Back on the subject of the original post....... Well done the Hoops, just goes to show that team spirit can and does win games against the best in the world! thats something that cant be bought by any russian/arab.
  6. I have something that i made just last week for the minimal kit approach to a days sport. I shall pop up a photo for you tomorrow BPP. I must admit i've had some great days with a handful of nets, a ferret + dog or gun. Nice improvising using the fence post, ive had to dig 4 foot with bare hands on the side of a links golf club after leaving the grafter in the motor, just as i started to dig erm.....scrape the heavens opened, head down ears and eyes full of sand and arse full of water. called it a day after that. thanks for the kind words, all the best for the rest of the season.
  7. top one is what i used for years has a few pockets inside for locator, collars, knife mine was plain green i used an old respirator pouch years ago for putting round my waist to hold my spare nets in once i'd netted up a warren. saved messing around untangling rabbits while the ferrets were to ground, neck them and re-set a fresh net. The few bags i have made are much much bigger than a respirator pouch, the front pocket alone on my bag is 10mm smaller in width and 2" smaller in length and almost identical in height as the respirator pouch.
  8. Well done Vin i enjoyed that post. We've all been there, ignoring dogs when they don't mark because we think we know better. 2 very hard earned rabbits will taste all the better with all that effort. good work.
  9. A good read Tug, as "the one" said that's a real nice hedge for ferreting.
  10. These people have no shame, they need stringing up. and while we're at it rope the parents up next to them, they are a product of their own lack of morals and discipline.
  11. Yes Vin your right, a full moon is the perfect night, it helps if and when a coney slips a net and back holes further down the set. i started to do a bit of moonlight ferreting when conditions wern't right for a drop of the longnet but still had the urge to get out.
