  9. After what seems a very short summer break, i've finally got my new baskets made. Im now getting these new frames shot blasted, zinc primed and powder coated. The cost was more than i'd anticipated, but the end result is well worth it. These will last a lifetime of outdoor use. This was a sample i had done in gloss black, Edit: i finally worked out how to use this photo bucket thingy http://www.imagehoarder.com/pic/2961WqL0/65707.jpg Regards Les

  11. What's your exes ?? exes?? whats that ? As well as your buy price its delivery, transport, storage, labour, phone bill, electric, returns ???? You only know what your profit is when you know all those things.........you say you made £300 in an afternoon but if you rate yourself at £150 a day, then your profit was £225 once you take your time Into account........ When your shifting large quantities for small margins every little detail needs to be checked and re-checked a 10p saving on every item soon adds up
  12. googling exes i think its out goings the only out goings will be stock / fuel / wages expenses i think WILF was talking about. overheads etc.
  13. this lad could walk out the garage with 20k stuffed in his sky rocket........... you'd need to hit him with an artic lorry to knock him down bless him, couldnt have happened at a better time for the lad, his business is on a knife edge....... hopefully this'll keep a roof over his kids head for a little longer.
  14. i was filling up at the petrol station this evening and a friend ran out the shop screaming to me that he'd just won 5k on a scratch card

  16. Bill that's a very nice trammel net, your a true craftsman sir. Regards Les Have visited Bill saw him knitting his nets, and yes he is a master craftsman. i'm going up to visit Bill in autumn hopefully. top bloke.
  17. Thanks for finding that, this section needs more posts like this. when i've recovered from my op i'll be putting posts up of my forays out with the webs. Regards Les
  18. Tiercel what a great post and a very well made net. i think now people can see how much work goes into one of these. the square mesh outers are so much better than the diamond ones being sold by some of the commercial net makers. Chaps if you want a trammel look no further than TC or netrigger, you wont find better. ANYWHERE.
  19. Bill that's a very nice trammel net, your a true craftsman sir. Regards Les
  20. Well done Bob, always nice to add another string to your bow. I have loads of 2.4mm wire, if you need some drop me a PM I'll get some in the post.
  21. Poor lad, I know how he's feeling..... I had all my nets and ferreting gear stole from my shed a while back, hand stitched long nets I've had for years, they need their fingers chopping off!!!! I have some purse nets I can donate to the young lad, a game bag I've made and i,ll throw in some stop nets etc. I'm immobile at the moment recovering from an operation but if you PM me an address Jack I'll get the stuff in the post when I'm back on my feet.
  22. First off,16 meshes is too deep for a long net. the net needs to be around the 60 inches in depth. with a 4" mesh 2" board that would be 14 meshes for the body of the net and a selvedge row each side of the net. The selvedge is put onto the net for a couple of reasons the main one being that it is a thicker twine than the body of the net so stops the meshes wearing out so quickly as they slide along the lines. The easiest way I have found of adding the selvedges is to place the net on a pole then add the selvedges to one side and then turn the net around and add the other side.
