There is a mark on the gun which means its proofed. Mine is from the 70's and has it. Here is a link to an article about it http://www.pakguns.com/showthread.php?2085-Baikal-MP-153-Steel-vs-Lead-shot-models

Danny, Try www.shotgunworld.com. . They do reviews on all makes of shotguns. Baikal are sometimes passed off as Remingtons but can't remember which model. There are a lot of people who swear by them but I might just be 1 of the unlucky ones who bought a dud. Don't let me put you off buying 1. I do know that they are proofed for steel. Read up online as there is talk of banning lead round here. Jim

Hi Danny, I have the very same gun and cant wait to get rid of it.I only bought it last May when I got back into shooting after a long absence. Have had nothing but problems with it. If I use 28g 7 and a halves in it,all is well. Put #6 or higher in it and it nearly always misfires. What happens is, after I fire the first barrel the safety clicks back on.Because of the guns age it is not able for the recoil of heavier shots.Have spoken to a few lads in the club and they all had the same problems with this gun. Only 2 weeks left in the season here so am going to stick with it til then an

Hi guys, Looking for some advice here please. I live on the banks of the Shannon and my club has land along a 5 mile stretch where we shoot ducks. On the opposite side of the river the callows are all flooded and we have spotted hundreds of duck flying over them this evening. We also heard geese but they were up in the elements. Could someone tell me if you can shoot along the length of a major river like this without permission? Someone told me that the rivers are state owned and you can shoot and fish along them if you want.I am trying to find out who actually owns the land so I can

Hi Guys, Just a quick question for you.My wife bought me some over-sized Flambeau wigeon decoys for my birthday and I was wondering have any of you used them? The look huge to me lol. I bought some Storm Front Teal decoys from Cabela's a while ago and they are tiny compared to them. Any advise or input would be great. Thanks in advance. Jimmy

Great shooting Remi.Quick question for you if you dont mind? Do you know anyone in Northern Ireland that organises goose shoots? Myself and my nextdoor neighbour are mad to get a goose. Could you pm me any info or numbers please. Cheers, Jimmy

Yeah have heard all those methods too, thumb tacks in dummies etc.W*****s all . Been going back to basics as someone advised me to.Been getting her to retrieve frozen birds and then giving her a treat when she delivers it.Someone else reckons it could be that she got too much work on dummies and hasn't had a shot retrieve in a long time.

Hi lads, Not sure if this is the right place for this so apologies in advance if its not.I have a Baikal O/U and was out for a shot on Saturday morning. A big cock flew up in front of me.I missed him with the 1st barrel and when I pulled the 2nd trigger nothing happened. I blamed a damp cartridge. On Monday morning I went down to feed a pond and the wife came with me.She was mad to fire a shot so I let her. She fired the 1st shot and pulled the 2nd trigger and again nothing happened. I looked across and coped that the safety had gone back on. Any idea what could be causing this and how w

Anywhere in Northern Ireland to shoot geese
Jimy1971 replied to lifetimelamper's topic in Wildfowling
Lifetime,I'm waiting to hear back from a couple of lads around here that go up North all the time shooting geese.Myself and the next door neighbor are trying to plan an excurision ourselves. As soon as I get the details I'll pm you numbers etc. As far as I know it's between £60-£70 per gun -
Great report and video Jason. Fair play lad. Still waiting for my first.

Thanks lads, Took her out this morning to a different spot, water was just about deep enough for her to swim. I threw a ball in 4 or 5 times and she happily retrieved it. Hopefully its problem solved. Going down to the pond later so hopefully will get a bird or 2 for her to retrieve. Got 1 more question. My mate just paid €450 for a 3 year old fully trained springer. As it turns out the dog is very hard mouthed. Is there any way to reverse this? He's going ballistic over it and is getting no comeback from the dealer in question.

Would you take £20 plus p&p to Ireland?

Had my 2 year old springer bitch down at the marina this morning after a run through the fields nearby. We had been down feeding a flight pond and wandered around for an hour or so. She was in top form after rising about 10 snipe while we were out. I put her sitting on the path and threw a ball about 30 yards out and when she was told she flew out and picked it.She swam back in with it but struggled to get up onto the bank. After that when I threw 2 balls back in she wouldnt go back into the water for them. Any ideas what thats all about? Shes never been afraid of water before. Cheers

Hi lads, Looking for a bit of advice from members in Ireland. I've been offered a Ucaller electric caller by a lad I know but need to know whats the story with using them? I have heard stories of lads having their guns taken off them by game wardens who have found them using them for ducks and geese.Any advice would be great. Don't want to waste € if I could loose my gun if caught with it. Only started back shooting this year. Thanks in advance Jimmy
