  1. Our Boxer used to get it when she was younger had it tested at vets in case round worm or mites but all clear. Vet said it is common in Boxers and Dobi's, so as Staffs are related to Boxers (Bulldog genes) maybe it is the same, other appear to think so. It would appear about now when her coat changed, two bald areas on her flanks, by full summer she was all back to normal.
  2. Well said Ditch, bred as a pet, kept as a pet whats the problem? Heck they even change the name and add "Miniture" to save confusion with a proper working JRT.

  5. All these tasks are just in a normal days work for a Patterdale :11:
  6. That poor dog, I know a dog can get over weight if kept as a pet with an easy life of treats and little exercise but that is not over weight that is gross. For once the RSPCA were right!
  7. This is just typical of Modern Britain. It make me so mad Hope your Aunt is OK.
  8. As long as the logs are near by (a few yards) it should be OK. We have Fish (ghost carp and goldfish) they breed naturally and are 6th or 7th generation by now and not all the goldfish are now golden, it is the feed that brings out the bright colours otherwise a lot of them are now brown and we also still have a thriving newt and amphibian colony. With the duck weed remove some as required that's what we do. It has a habit of turning up anyway on the new frogs/ toads etc as they arrive from other ponds. Emptying the pond will not help as it will come back to life even when it has been dry
  9. Iris is a good plant for the margins but keep it in a basket as it can multiply a lot, it also adds a bit of height, colour and is somewhere for the dragon fly nymph to climb out via. Oxygenaters are always needed. I also have water hawthorn, not as fancy as the water lilly's but a good native, the leaves float on top with small flowers. This helps to provide shade and stops it all going green. As someone said before logs for the toads and newts to hide in (plus provides loads of food source insects) and make sure the sides are sloped enough for animals to climb out. Looks a nice pool. You ca
  10. Good idea prove to them that we do a good clean job, that is a needed service and not the evil that it is made out to be. It is just nature ( given a helping hand!). Lets hope you can convert him to the cause.

  15. The site is good though and his articles very interesting. Pity you used a white as the example most of his are standard colours and look like very good dogs.
  16. 3/4 Boxer 1/4 Corgi This is not a Boxer as it is all white! This would fail the breed standard as more than 2/3 of body colour is white. White Boxers are not KC registrable Breeding of a white was banned due to deafness and traditionally whites were put down. The white Gene is a through back to the Bulldog (I forget his name ) that was used in the early breeding.
  17. Boxers have a thin tail which due to the nature of the breed (Mad as hatters) is often broken when left undocked leading to a painful amputation later in life. This is why they also need to be docked as pups, along with most of the other docked breeds. They were never selectively bred to have a thick strong tail.
  18. A friend of mine had a GSD with Epilepsy when she got to 9, still had a few quality years on the drugs in semi retirement. That was genetic, sounds like your lad has had it brought on by a possible fluid blockage in the brain due to the accident. pressure builds up and he is sick and gets an episode then he recovers and is OK for a while I have seen this happen in humans after a head injury. Good luck with him.
