Bought a new vanguard 2 with some cheep Remington 100g rounds, but am assuming like all rounds and guns they all react differently and do not group the same. I haven't tried the remingtons yet. Just wondering if anybody has a preference rather than going threw the whole range trying to find the best one for that particular gun, cheers.

My thoughts exactly tanktfb but looked at them and tried one today, bottom line; gonna spend more they are gash!

Always stay on the right side of the law at the end of the day you can't beat them I just wasn't sure of it, like if you have a legal airifle you can sell pretty much to anyone you like but once it's fac'd it can never go back. Thought mods may have been the same clearly not! I have done what I had to and sent it back for variation only I stocked up with blocks of rounds as I no it can take months. Thanks again all.

I was a little dubious about joining a forum but am glad u have now, thanks for all of your help it's all good. I will at some point get my ticket sent back and go threw the rigmarole of variation but for now I'll take your advice on board thanks alot!
-
Ah nice one are they any good? I have only used wildcats, thanks for the advice really want to avoid the variation process takes months. Thanks again.

Is it possible to buy a quality moderator for my hmr off ticket if so where? I took a tumble a few nights back and have basically trashed my mod and was wondering if I could replace it without getting a reciept for it then going threw a lengthy variation process. I have a moderator on my license, I only want to replace it if I rang the police would they ring a licensed gun trader and ortherise this or do I have to do the three month variation process? I just want to get back out!

.17 hmr whisper mod wanted will travel within reason for it. Based in Devon

I was looking at the 5 shot matrix sa I think that's what is was online. It looked ok just I go out in all weathers wind rain and snow so the guns I have get used well in all condition I couldn't justify anything over sort of £500 and you don't get alot for that. I'd pay top wack for top guns but would be afraid to go out in the pissing rain so looking for something accurate I can use at a fare price.

In a nut shell are revo guns any good for game/rough shooting or would I get the gun I'd expect for the price? Cheers

Funny really had my mind set on a atn 390 even transferred the funds, but reckon I'll just stick to the clulite and filters. I do think that the advertisements reports of a 100m recognition range is a bit naughty when in reality without extra or new ir illuminator that's probably near on 25 meters to far and accurate shot placement is more like 40-60 dependent on the night. Moan over, thanks for the advice chaps!

Nightvision help needed desperado!
Brooksey replied to Brooksey's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
I thought as much the blue and green work really well, but before spending out on nv thought I'd ask I was looking at the atn 390 but reckon I'll just stick to the lamp and maybe spend the money on low light scopes. Cheers and thanks for the advice torchey. -
Help me before I spend my money! Is any 1st gen nightvision ample enough for an hmr or would I be wasting my money and be better off sticking to a lamp and filters? Cheers.

Hahahaaa! That's what I am looking at sportsman are selling them for £563 including vat, synthetic with no scopes but screw cut so ideal for me because I have some spare 6x24x60 in the cabinet I'll slip them right on it. Must say I have read nothing but good reports on them so there's one somewhere with my name all over it, like I say I'd never pay to much for any hunting kit apart from maybe waterproofs but certainly not on rifles I like to use them not admire them. Although saying that I'm going to contradict my self because I would like a nice night vision scope maybe a gen three in time,

I only stumbled upon the permission was doing some work on an old barn conversion saw about sixty of them just walking about and pointed them out to the owner, to which he replied get rid of them all of them they are destroying my lawns. They come down threw a lovely valley with enormous back stops all set in about ten acres perfect for shooting. As far as which gun I'm not sure my others are cz'ds an American and a varmint and I can't fault them at all in any way shape or form except one will only group eley subs and the other Winchesters but once you sort the ammo your away. Not sure about

I'll take all that on board it's good advice, I'll be hitting black fallow with it just waiting for my variation to come back. I have rang the local constabulary it's all been passed and deer added so just a waiting game now, Your bang on about removing the mod, my hmr is a filthy gun far more do than the .22 I pull a snake threw that after a few rounds maybe six and always lube the threads, Thanks for the advice I'm always up for learning.
-
Top man Charlie cheers, I use them on the .22 and hmr but was unsure as to what significance it would have. Thanks again the large calibre is not something I am familiar with so cheers.

Hi Jamie82 I'm in exactly the same boat as you, I'm looking at spending a max of £500 and am looking at all angles. The trouble with the ns50 and ns200 hundred from what I can gather they aren't water resistant and throw a lot of light back in your face making you visible. I have made nv with cameras and lamps and to be honest it's only good out to about 50yrds. I read the labels on the night vision boxes and most say recognition 100m but from the information I can gather it's approx just under half that distance for accurate shot placement. I'm afraid we either have to stop being tight a

Cheers pil I didn't realise there was a section for that I'll get straight on the case thanks for the advice.

I am going to buy a .25-06 next week but am not sure if I should by an expensive moderator or will I only get the one shot because of the noise levels regardless. I have ear defenders so the safety aspect is covered; in short, does it make a massive difference to reducing the decibels or not?
-
All tried and tested buddy, to many buttons battery's etc. And after all the effort you only get about 45 to 60ft tops, was looking at an atn 410 it's says 100m on the box but I'm thinking if I half that that's probably more like it I may be wrong though.
-
I also saw this and made an ir filter to go on my clulite sl2 and attached a monocular to my scope, it worked kind of but to many buttons and messing about. It was good to about 50 ft. I'm just so unsure about spending four to sort of six hundred and not being able to place a humane shot over 45 ft ish. Most of the descriptions say 100m recognition I'm not so sure, also does that mean a black shape or detail?
-
I'm on a budget so can only afford gen1 nightvision scopes, are they worth buying? What distance will I see for example a rabbit in enough detail to place an accurate shot? And which make and model? Im not sure I believe the 100m advertised on some packaging.
