my missis bought me a hw97kt on thursday so i thought i would head down the range to get it zeroed after i had done the geordie hunters tune up . got their about half ten and got set up happy to say no twang and dam this thing shoots well , anyway about an hour later a new member turns up with a beat up old hw37 he just got , after about 20 shots he looks at me and asks why he keeps missing , now I'm no marksman but told him about this place and gave him some pointers i have gained from here and after a while he was putting in some ok groups 5 ,22 pellets under a 2p at 27 yards and grinning li

i don't get on ith tx200s but i have 2 hw80 and can't see past them , one in .22 and one in .177 both have taken rabbits out at 40 yards and i use my .177 for hft shooting and am very happy with the way it performs , i also find the a shed load quicker to load and a lot less fussy to load

My First Spring Powered Air Rifle?
webster replied to Liamjenx's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
i would go for the hw80 mate i have 2 and love them to bits . No Mawders you look at the reports on the Lightnings the modern ones really are that bad, trigger problems, zero problems, stocks cracking, bolts shearing and to top it all very poor bluing (BSA bluing used to be beautiful and hard wearing). The Lightning is rumoured to be so called because it does not strike in the same place twice. A similar amount of money will see the OP with an HW 99, which is twice the rifle the modern Lightning is, even if it does have the easily sorted galling problem that the 99s were cursed with for -
i bought mine for 250 quid bud , but between £250 and £300 seems to be the norm

from a kids point of view a scope will be cool just like the computer games , if you have one i would start them off with it as they can pic items out on coke cans i.e. the o in coke it will make them feel they are great to start off with ,one thing i would say is start them with a springer as if your good with a spring gun you will be great with a new fangled fart gun ( pcp) . i started shooting at 15 with my mates dads webley vulcan with a 4x40 scope in their back garden oneof are other mates would bring his bsa airsporter with open sights but in my head the vulcan was better too shoot as it

i picked up my 77 for £130 and it was in fair condition but if its is the [BANNED TEXT] rifle for you and shoots well £200 would be my top price , and at that age its runnng the 25mm piston which go for silly money on ebay . give it a good look over . you will know if its right for you

how long is a piece of string mate . i think my hw80k is the best field gun i only use .22 out hunting . but others like .177 under leavers any gun is a good gun a as long as you take the time to learn how it behaves as 2 guns bought from the same shop on the same day by the same maker and model will shoot slightly different , one thing is buy the best gun you can afford cheap guns cost you double in the end as you will get pissed with it and want a better gun weihrauch or air arms are the best too makes as far as im conserned

Spring Or Pcp's
webster replied to Rabbit Killer12's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
the hw 95 and hw85 are just over 7lb un-scoped . also the amount of cocking effort might kill a 12 year old with a tx200 . a break barrel would be much easier as its a longer lever to pull . my old 95 in .177 was easier than my mates tx200 in .22 to cock . just thought i would throw it out their -
Spring Or Pcp's
webster replied to Rabbit Killer12's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
if it was me i would be buying a hw95k plenty out their second hand and £250 ish will buy you a good gun and scope and a sleeve . if you want new have a look at the hw85 both guns are light and as many many shooters will say your better to hone your skills on a springer . i wouldnt go for a pcp just yet theirs far more fun to be had with a springer i find and once you have mastered a spring gun you can shoot anything -
