  1. living the dream.......

  2. I thought Galastop was a prolactin inhibitor? My bad.... Nothing in the data about dehydration and its not an effect I've seen, used a bit in working Spaniel and Labs but not working lurchers/greyhounds. Not really a fan of the herbal stuff but each to their own.....
  3. Phantom pregnancies will predispose the bitch to pyometras when she gets older (infection of the womb). Only realy way to stop them is to have her spayed well out of season and once she's over the phantom. If you spay her during a phantom any mammary development may be permanent. Only risk I can see from running her would be that any mammary injuries would bvleed lots due to increase blood vessel development. Galastop can be used (can get from the vet) to end the phantom quicker but ultimately you have to wait it out! Bite the bullet and get her spayed before her next season!!!!
  4. If its a wide open cut it will take ages to heal as pads spring apart when cut. Getting a vet to stitch is best as the tissue that fills in the gap will just be soft normal tissue and will be prone to injury. Will take more than a week to heal, a month is more likely but as said above my break open when pressure/tension applied.....
  5. As above said, some have such fast metabolisms they burn food like mad and can't keep weight on. How old is the dog?? (can't see in a post above) Neutering can often helf if there is no underlying medical condition as reduction in hormones can slow metabolism.....
  6. Massive swellingt would fit with an adder bite, not so much the diarrhoea, but depends where you are? Also recovery is pretty rubbish unless they get antivenom same maybe not an adder bite if she's getting better??
  7. Stitching will give a better finish but requires more skill and a still animal! Stapling is quicker and therefore a bit more accurate but bit more fiddly to take out. A good stitch and a good staple fix will heal at the same time, perhaps harder with stitching to make sure skin edges are 100% together (requires a bit more skill).....
