  1. I have been handling my ferrets a little more often recently - spending some time sat in the shed with each one trying to get them to stop wriggling and scratching my hands ... I was sat on the floor with the ferret sniffing and nosing around with me scooping him up stroking him then putting him back down it was all going well untill i sat him on my lap and let him sniff my hands and he decided "bite" me ... i say bite he just put his teeth on my palm, he then went onto to do it twice more!... i wasnt sure whether to punish him or whether he was just trying to start a game?... what shou
  2. Mine have a water bottle on the front of the cage, i have had no problems, and if its warm they get a metal water bowl with a brick in it to stop them flipping it over.... I tried a bowl but found it got filled with shavings and dust too quickly....

Me too I think it may well have been that the wire wasnt up to the job , It was some type of electrical cable which i stripped the plastic coating from, I spun it together to make a 6 strand snare.... I dont think it was a "do-gooder" as it was set in a fairly outta the way spot, and could easily have been untied If they had bothered to get close enough to cut it ... I reckon mole trapper was right the wire wasnt upto the job and either the rabbit struggled its way out or a fox tugged it an the wire snapped... I'm going to save for either some propper snares or wire and eyelets, but un
  6. ahh, ok then, so it could of been anything then, I was just wondering whether snapped wires were a sign of any particular theif. Got a snare made of some other wire i "found" which should hold up better
  7. I had a couple rabbit snares set, they were made from some copper wire i had "aquired" .When i checked them this afternoon one of the snares was had been broken a little below cord which was tied to the fence. .... What would brake/snap a rabbit snare?
  8. I bought mine from here Catapult Ammo ... I also bought 250 6mm and much prefer those to the bigger size, I can achieve reasonable aaccuracy and power with them at 10 or so yards
  9. Its very unlikley ... even if they do nail one, it's likely end up as abit of a mess only fit for ferret food or will be a very unhealthy rabbit so will be worth nowt ...
  10. Get a small lurcher, you will have tons more success with it on the rabbits , and theres still time to put the border pup on foxes... Also if there in the house a third dog changes everything

  15. Had a couple of hours out ratting to one of the pig farms we get invited onto... We were just shifting boards tires and hollow pannels nicknamed our "Game Crop" :laughbounce2: .... Had one scary moment lifting a board - 30+ rats sat in a swarm underneath it :yuk: ended with 130... sorry theres not much variety of pictures, i was in a bad position... YIS Borderboy

  17. we had over a 1000 rats on a chicken farm last year. all in one day. going again soon. i'l get some pics this time How many terriers was that with??
