Hey Chaps, Any One Want Whippet Pups? I Need A Sire!!
kranky replied to lurcherlad92's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
In truth I don't get wound up. I'm laughing most of the time. But, I will defend the unfairly victimised with venom. -

perhaps you could advise him on distance lamping You've got a dog that'll run the beam but smashes into rocks if they're in the beam but won't run 200 yards. And you've also got an FEO that only lets you shoot parakeets and Canada geese. Maybe as a mod you should do more to promote the forum rather than turning people away. Could you please explain the Invasive Alien Species thing to me? Since you posted that you've lost any credibility in my eyes and have ignored any reference made to it. I'm sure there's a simple explanation but I'm struggling to find out what it is. its really simple -

perhaps you could advise him on distance lamping Have you got a whippet? That might explain why it can't run 200 yards, what with the lack of wind and all that. Or maybe you can't bear the yapping on long slips? -

The worrying thing is this sounds like a genuine post lol It most likely is a genuine post, by a new member, who may not post again because he's been hammered. How about people offer a bit of advice and steer him in the right direction instead of trying to make him look stupid? There's obviously a few on here that have replied who know a bit about whippets who could help him out. Educate don't berate. I know a bit about whippets but it won't be any help. -
Nice work. As soon as the leaves are gone I'll be after the squirrels again myself.
-
I'm gonna send you some uncut ones so you can experiment with your own bands.
-
The bands are 108's from the stationary company that I use for my office. They're the same dimensions as 107's just a bit longer. I tie them to a pouch and then stretch them so that they lock out just behind my eye and then tie them to the frame at that length. Marbles go well our if them and so do 9.5 mm steel. I haven't sent your replacement TBG bands off yet so I'll stick some bands made from 107's in too.
-
Video of a collared dove, 7 yards, M10 hexnut, 107 rubber bands.
-
I'll add some details when I get a chance and some more photos. Add whatever photos or videos you've got.
-
I've seen a dish washer empty kitchen sink traps in bungalows there's lots of. Different syphonage.Tape the top of washing machine stand pipe won't effect drainage at all I do it as a matter of course. Why do you tape the stand pipe if it doesn't affect the drainage? Lol!! It'll get you a non compliance statutory rectification notice if anyone one from WRAS or the local water authority inspects your work.

My Little Lads.... Little Slinger....
kranky replied to B.P.R's topic in Catapult & Slingshot Hunting
We probably won't be going on holiday together any time soon, but you can't help but be nice when you see a youngster getting a proper start in fieldsports. And, in fairness, any father that has that much love, pride and time for his son can't be that bad. -
I'll chuck a few up tomorrow and then anyone who wants to can add their own photos to the thread. It can be the Catty Hunting Gallery.

That's nice to see. He should be an excellent shot before too long. -
Good shooting!!!! Don't worry about the speed, the pigeon couldn't get out of the way and there's enough poke there to kill cleanly. I'm pleased for you.
-
If the washing machine isn't installed correctly you will get intermittent smells depending on the rate of syphonage or backflow from the waste and or machine.

You'll never get much over 10 ft lbs with 9.5mm steel. Barnett tubes give you about 6ft lbs and square elastic isn't much better, but I've killed plenty with both. Accuracy is far more important than power. Headshots with 107 bands and marbles have killed loads of birds out to 15 yards for me but they only put out around 8 ft lbs. I hit a squirrel in the head the other week and rolled it over with single 1745's. As I picked it up and walked back to my car, it regained consciousness in my hand and decided that it didn't like me holding it!! It ran off, a little bit unsteady and then climbed a t

If Deerhounds Aren't What They Were
kranky replied to No eye deer's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
The people supporting the misconceptions will tell you that your dog can't run through trees or can't catch a rabbit, because she's 32". And that's my point, there's too many people around with an opinion they formed because of something they read on the internet. It's funny how a lot of the coursing dogs, before the Saluki arrived, were heavily DH influenced and you'd never see a 23" dog on the field back then. Maybe those fellas knew nothing and should've used smaller, faster and more agile dogs rather than the slow, ponderous beasts that they did. Or maybe they actually got out and -

If Deerhounds Aren't What They Were
kranky replied to No eye deer's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
If I wanted small agile dogs then I wouldn't choose deerhound blood. I'd go for something smaller. The deerhound x puppies that are on the ground now should all make 27" + and that's what I'd expect. I've chosen one of the biggest pups for myself. There were plenty of hares that would run in a straight line when they realised that the dog didn't have the speed to keep up. My 30" dog doesn't lack agility, but I've never held him back or prevented him from running. Peoples preconceptions and long held fallacies are what dictate to them what certain dogs can do. People without access to
