Surely you also want the speed that a deerhound x grey has, as well?
-
Maybe im too hung up on shaping them to look aesthetically pleasing... trying to get that perfect 'Y'.. I did that for years and I kick myself now for the forks that I discarded. All of the above shot straight and I took game with all of them.
-
Mine are mainly, hawthorn, holly, oak or birch. They just feel right in the hand. Some are thin, some are fat, most pitch forward. I don't like to shape them too much, just strip the bark and round of the fork tips. I've been making myself an antler one tonight. I'm going to finish it tomorrow and put some black theratube on it. This fork pitches forward. What I have found is that some of the best looking, most symmetrical forks sometimes don't shoot anywhere near as good as the twisted old gnarly ones.

What's The Most Intelligent Breed Of Terrier?
kranky replied to Polkey's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I wouldn't say that......its just there nature. I'd say an intelligent terrier is one that uses it head in all situations. A terrier that is to ground and can find its quarry when its given him the run a round and keep safe is intelligent, most terriers can bush just like a plummer. It was a joke mate. I need a dog to go to ground and be bold but be clever enough not to smash itself up too much. A Plummer may be able to ride a bicycle and be the world champion at Angry Birds but it still wouldn't do it for me. A terrier, by definition, needs to go to ground. -

Plummers are the most intelligent..... .........they're clever enough to keep themselves out of any bother by refusing to go to ground!! -
Well done!!!

What Tubing For An Old Black Widow?
kranky replied to WoodsmanJim's topic in Catapult & Slingshot Hunting
I've just this second won a Black Widow on eBay. It's the camp handled one. It's to replace one that I lost. I'm going to put 3050 natural latex tubes on it or theraband black tubes. I'm going to use it with marbles. -
We used to use Yuasa alarm batteries that my mates dad got from work. Rigged up to the square spotlights from Halfords and then a Coleman.

you be doing well too see rats eyes in a distance other than that its rabbits only in this country.................I only lamp rats with my terrier, she can't run as far as my longdog. The way some people talk she'd probably give their running dogs a run for their money!!! Lol!!! I take it from your username that you've got a whippet? If that's the case, regardless of what the law says you're limited to rats and rabbits anyway. And short slips for them asthmatic little yappers. im happy with mine and that's all what matters..............you reminded me its time for there roast din

Coming from the same man who questioned the experience of Paulus and labelled Borderscott a fanny. And know neither of them Paulus was wrong because his FEO had given him duff information. He's wrong about 200 yard slips so he's never seen them happen, so I can surmise that he didn't do anything bigger prevan so therefore, he's got limited experience in my opinion. If Borderscort was offended by my fanny comment then he needs to stop being a fanny. I'm sure he got the joke.

Gaz, I said in my previous post that I thought you'd done the right thing by asking about which dog to have and I don't think there's any stupid questions. I just don't think you should be telling someone that in your opinion something can't be done when you've seen nothing really. You can come and see for yourself how a proper dog can be slipped at long distance and how a proper lamp will allow you to identify what you're slipping at.

The original post was a piss take. No one has taken the piss out of a newbie or bullied anyone as people are implying. In truth, I don't think it's just this one particular thread that's being referred to. It's just the place as a whole. You yourself were quite vocal on the whippet pup thread and even converted 200 yards into swimming pool lengths. (Feck knows why you did that!) You're hardly the Old man of the woods, are you? Do you think you've got enough experience to pass comment on other peoples dogs or their hunting techniques? I think that's peoples point, the inexpe

Thanks for that, although as previously stated, I own a Practical Shotgun club and have all my section 1 shotguns conditioned for vermin. If your FEO had conditioned your licence as you stated for Invasive Avian Species then you'd have only been allowed to shoot Canada's, Ring Necked Parakeets, Ruddy Ducks etc. Woodpigeons, crows and rooks are native and not classed as invasive. If you can't see 200 yards then that's unfortunate but please have the dignity not to dismiss it as impossible. I can't skateboard but I won't tell the kids jumping off of the steps outside Tesco that it's impossib -

No one has been unfairly victimised. Paulus is a top bloke and you seem intent on trying to make him look a c**t? I'm sure Paulus can fight his own battles and stand up for himself after he's insulted someone and doesn't need your assistance. If Paulus stopped suddenly, all we'd find would be your Lidl trainers hanging out of his back passage before you're so far up his arse!! No one has been unfairly victimised. Lidl trainers are what I would imagine you would wear. Or maybe Shoe Express sports footwear. -

You're wasted on here mate...... Read back through this thread. The way the OP was treated was out of order but, par for the course for this place. When one of the forum moderators starts ridiculing a new members first post then you need to ask whether they should be a moderator. What example is being set? Paulus decided to try and ridicule me by mentioning something from another thread and inferred that I was lying. I stand by what I say and have offered to prove it. I, in return, mentioned a post of his from a previous thread and offered evidence to prove that I know either him or hi
